While the Little League World Series won't be on TV for another month, the journey has begun for the teams hopeful of making it. Little League (12U) and Jr League (14U) play started last week at the District level.

Forgive my "proud Dad" moment but my oldest son Austin is 14 and today his team won the Florida District 6 tourney by a score of 9-3. We beat a team (Citrus Park, FL) that has won the FL State tourney the last 4 years and made it to Williamsport 2 years ago In other words, a very good team. Austin was the starting pitcher and threw 4 scoreless innings before moving to 3rd. He also had a grand slam (his 2nd of the tourney). The 14U's have their World Series in Taylor Michigan next month. We have a long way to go but have a very good team that has scored 74 runs and allowed only 6 in our first 5 games. Next up is the sectional tourney beginning a week from today.

Are there any other Little League families out there on VN?

Congratulations to your son.

I guess the apple does fall far from the tree.

That's awesome. I'm several years away from that but I can't wait.

Kids from my hometown (Moline National) are playing for the Great Lakes title and World Series berth on Saturday.
