He only benches 285? I would hope a D-1 OL would be throwing up more than that.

A couple of O-Line I would have liked to have visit would have been James Hurst, Nick Appel, and Russel Bodine all being heavily recruited by North Carolina.

why look at him?

James is on board
Cullen says we are still in play
we have an in with Chaz Green
Pair is a Vol
Fulton is a Vol

i guess i can give him the benefit of the doubt and say that at 6'8 thats a lot of bend in the knees required to squat.

Not saying this is the guy we want but you have to have some options. Can't just hope the guys you have down are locks and come up short on NSD.

Exactly, just like we need all that we can get on D-Line we need even more on O-Line. What about Bodine?Russell Bodine - Yahoo! Sports He has a lot of offers from some pretty good schools. Not the best Rivals rating but things can improve with good coaching.

agreed ..at 6'8 those are mighty good numbers for an 18 year old . with arms and legs that long ...leverage is against him in the straight forward lifts.

Would be interested in his power clean max.

ok, I'll put it this way,

it seems we arent on his radar and he isnt on ours.

theres 2 weeks to signing day and he's a verbal to USF.

u really want our staff to waste minutes on trying to swing him?

Hell I squatted 315 in hs at 175 lbs, and benched 240, at 5'11!!

I'll agree tho that at 6'8, that is a lot of force on the knees, and long arms don't make for heavy bench maxes!!

gotta have a plan B - you don't know when he grew and if you were that strong in HS I don't want to meet you in a dark alley!

Totally correct. Easier for a short armed guy to hit high numbers than a long armed guy. Bench Press also can be maxed out by cheating, bouncing the bar of your chest, etc. Also depends on the grip and how far out or in your holding it will change which major muscle group kicks in. He may be holding it where he's using more tricep and less chest and with those long arms thats gonna be tough. You can never have too many bodies also on Oline as injuries are gonna happen.

I realize that with Pair, Fulton, James, and the possibility of Green and Cullen we seem to have a lot of depth coming in this class.....however, I think that offensive linemen are like dollar bills...you never really can have enough of them.

We need depth. Period.

There is no need for this much depth from this one post, however.
