I hope this will evolve into a general discussion thread on the SEC's Quarterbacks throughout the 2011-2012 season.

List the projected starters for each SEC team in order from best to worst based on how you expect them to perform this coming season.

I will get us started.

Yep, the three top quarterbacks are from SEC EAST. The SEC WEST still has the better teams though.

1. Stephen Garcia (South Carolina) - Note: Maybe it is that he gets to throw to Jeffery, Ace, and possibly Lattimore/Ellington distracting d-coordinators into cheating into the box. I could be wrong but many of Garcia bad games where on the road. He and the Gamecocks seem to feed off the atmosphere in Williams-Brice and they will get more games than usual there this year. Only thing is that Spurrier may look to give Connor Shaw more game snaps and maybe even work in a few snaps to a wildcock QB (Gilmore, Ellington...). Will Garcia have the discipline to stay out of the doghouse though?

2. Tyler Bray (Tennessee) - For all his brash attitude, the kid can chuck the bean. His experience last year, the work this off-season and his own stable of WRs lead by Rodgers and Hunter will help him put up huge numbers this year.

3. Aaron Murray (Georgia) - He was great in his first season as a starter but he will be without A.J. Green this year. His experience tailbacks are also gone. He will have to weather this season. I had him at number one just based off of the throws and decisions he made last season but he is going to have some significant roadblocks in his way this year.

4. Chris Relf (Mississippi State) - Team has good receaivers and Relf can move with his feet. He, like Bray and Murray, is on the Davey O'Brien watch list.

5. A.J. McCarron (Alabama) - Big and accurate passer in his first year as the starter. He played in every game last year behind McElroy, he has a huge line, and has great runningbacks who will preoccupy defenses. I think he will be the breakout newcomer at this position.

6. Jordan Jeffries (LSU) - He will probably split time with someone again this year. Likely Jarret Lee again...but maybe even Mettenberger

7. Tyler Wilson (Arkansas) - Will get every opportunity to succeed in Petrino's proven system.

8. John Brantley (Florida) - I know he had a terrible year by Florida's standards but he gets to try a system better suited to his abilities this year. He didn't look to hot in this year's spring game so Florida has a lot to worry about. Is Demps gone from the team? It will be a down year (again) for Florida.

9. Barrett Trotter (Auburn) - In truth he is ranked here because Auburn is better than the teams that are left but they will be Dyer's team.Even then, they also will have a different O-Line from 2010. The QB may be running for his life. Trotter is just expected to not make too many mistakes anything else he provides is a great bonus (to an outsider's view...I am sure Auburn fans expect a lot more).

10. Morgan Newton (Kentucky) - Will get a lot of snaps because Kentucky has no other options. Newton has experience in starting 8 games in 2009 and he has little pressure as the number two guy is a true freshman. Kentucky will not win many games this season and Newton will be in passing situations in many of Kentucky's contests.

11. Nathan Stanley (Ole Miss) - Kind of the opposite of the Kentucky situation inthat Ole Miss has about six QBs on the roster. Stanley and Masoli have the experience.

12. Larry Smith (Vanderbilt) - He is keeping the spot as a Senior but Rodgers will get half the snaps for Vanderbilt. Also, it is Vanderbilt.

This is how I see it well before Fall Practice.

Something that means Nothing: SEC QB as last two BCS champions Greg McElroy (Alabama) and Cam Newton (Auburn) were in their first seasons as SEC starting QBs.

If Bray can learn that a 5yd dump-off is better than a 50yd int. I think he can be special.

Guy`s with big arms and gunslinger mindset often try to do too much. Just trust your coaches and play with the talent you have around you.

I thought Nathan Stanley transferred? Isn't Randall Mackey getting the nod? I could be wrong.

Good Catch Sith Vol

Ole Miss is now down to three quarterbacks this spring.

Wednesday night, junior quarterback Nathan Stanley informed coach Houston Nutt that he is leaving the program.

The Jackson (Miss.) Clarion-Ledger first reported Stanley’s decision to leave Ole Miss for unspecified reasons.

Offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach David Lee confirmed to ESPN.com that Stanley was leaving, but wouldn’t comment further on why the junior decided to part ways with the university.

Nutt addressed Stanley’s situation in a statement from the university.

IMO, Jarret Lee has played in his last game. Barring injury

Masoli no longer plays for Ole Miss...Jordan Jefferson, not Jeffries.

I'd have Wilson at #1. I think you may be expecting a little too much from Bray, but hey, optimism is cool.

Bray is no worse than 4th IMO. No matter how you spin it.

I agree. I love how great Tyler played in his 5 starts, but 4 of them were against inferior defenses. Any qb can look good when they play Memphis. I'm not taking anything away from him, and I truly hope he has a breakout season. I'm just afraid all of this hype will soon turn into mediocrity if he has "average" games against the top SEC teams.

Yes, the talent and supporting cast of receivers is definitely there...so no reason to have him lower than 4th (coming into this season at least).

Wilson and the Petrino offense will put up some sick numbers. Too many weapons to not be succesful.

Garcia has the most experience and also has plenty of weapons on offense. Look out if the kid decides to mature and accept the leadership role on the team.

Don't sleep on Brantley. Everybody wanted him coming out of HS and now he has Charlie coaching him up. UF also has plenty of talent on offense.

I agree about Wilson. Barring injury, he's going to have video game stats

I wouldn't hold my breath for Garcia to "mature". He is what he is, a mediocre QB that has flashes of greatness.

Brantley has no WRs and porous OL. I'm sure he'll improve statistically, but good D's will still eat that offense's lunch

Bray makes one gesture against North Carolina and it seems like everyone thinks he's arrogant.

I don't care that Garcia has been at S. Carolina since the Reagan administration. He's still going to be Stephen Garcia.

Am I the only person that thinks Relf could have a breakout season.

Newton (not Cam) went 4-1 as a true freshman against SEC opponents, including a win against Auburn on the road. I don't know how he stacks up against these other guys, but i think that he has a high ceiling. Summer reports are that he has taken leadership of the team. We'll see.
