Well Dooley has 17 or 18 verbals now. Who if anyone changes their mind and/or does he not take? More importantly, how many can he sign? 30? I remember Fulmer a few years ago had to sign well over 20 and failed to do so. I think '07, not sure. If that was the case that was a major stinger as well. Will Dooley sign a full class? Who is expected to join the current verbal list? Who are likely Dline and Oline prospects we are in on? I know this post is loaded with questions. Sorry. It should probably be in the recruiting forum but may lead to good discussion.

We will certainly have a filled out class. Im not sure who will definitely close out the class. But the three biggest gets left on the board, IMO, are Gabe Wright, Mickey Johnson and Antonio Richardson.

If we can grab those three, maybe a surprise or two, I'll be totally thrilled with this class and it'll help our depth next year while solidifying depth for the future. It'd be a great start for Dooley to get a top 15 class, even though top 20 is more realistic.

Dooley will sign a full class because he needs the bodies. If a couple of kids blindside him and decommit last minute you can bet that he will offer someone, even if it is an unnrated project player.

Edderick Loften will take one of the spots, assuming he qualifies and Vincient Dallas should commit by the end of the week according to LV.

Isn't he roughly 20 scholly players short now? Coupled with that how many seniors free up schollies? I thought he was closer to 30 or over. No?

the SEC limits the number a team can sign. No more Ole Miss-type classes

Remember when Miami was putting guys on baseball, swimming, track, tennis, or whatever schollies to get them in? hahahaha. How times have changed.

Loften will be back-dated, right? Someone tell me how that works and how many we can sign total this year?

I believe we can sign 25 per year and back count 2, so we can sign a total of 27. The two was determined from last year. We only sign 23 last year so leaves us with 2 spots from last years class. I am not 100% for sure.

100 would be great but you can only have 85 scholarship players for football, but with transfer leaving the program, arrests and just players leaving most teams are still able to take 25 a year. I know there was some discussion earlier this year that Florida couldn't sign 25 this year because of their 85 limit but they will wait until they see how many Jr's leave early for the draft or kids transfer.

Basically Arkansas signed 33 and Old Miss 38 in 09. Which led to the rule. I understand why the rule like that is needed. But I feel UT has taken the brunt of this rule and this has greatly slowed UTs progress back to the top. There should have been some sort of exclusion clause when you are actually down 20+ players because of matters beyond your control and you are not oversigning but simple trying to get back to the limit.

Then you get involved with "gray-shirting" correct?
Correct.

It breaks down like this. Dooley can sign 27 with 2 backcounted. He can sign 3 additional but those would be greyshirted. Max is 30. Hubbs has stated that he believes we sign 28 this year. We oversigned last year also but had 4 I believe not get in.

On offense: Richardson, Clear, Rome and 2 receivers (Dallas included here) and 1 RB

Defense: 2 more DT's and 1 LB with Lofton coming in in Dec.

That would put us around 27.

I know star ratings do not always matter, but according to Rivals 16 out of 18 are rated 3 star or lower....YIKES
