Rivals 150

Other Vol Targets:
15. Kentavious Caldwell *****
18. Adonis Thomas *****
36. Johnny O'Bryant ****

Some comments from Rivals analysts:

Chris Jones- His shot selection and feel for involving others have left something to be desired. Gets lost in traffic in the lane too often. Needs to be a better decision maker in regards to dribbling into trouble considering his size limitation. His movement will probably depend on the movement of people around him if we don't see him again due to transfer of schools.

Kevin Ware- He struggled while I watched at NBPA. I see him as more of a small forward/utility wing who can help some with ball handling. Not worried as much about shooting as I am his decision making. He doesn't seem to have progressed much, if at all, as a player. He just isn't cutting it as a point guard which is what we originally thought he would be. Will need to play off the ball and he just doesn't shoot well at all from the outside.

Kentavious Caldwell- Pretty high ceiling. If he learns to play hard every time and improves his handle, he's still got some room to move up in the rankings. Big two guard with deep range.

Adonis Thomas- He needs to show more diversity on the offensive end, he's a power guy who needs to refine his offensive game. He really needs to round out his perimeter game. In college, teams aren't going to defend him more than 10 feet away until he becomes a more legit shooter/handler.

Johnny O'Bryant- He often plays games where he has little overall impact. He's an interior player who can be effective because of activity level and strength. But, he spends a lot of time hunting jumpers, isn't as good on the boards as he should be and as he's matured his body has thickened up and he's lost explosiveness as an athlete.

Note for Mods: I don't know VN's policy on premium message board info, but I've seen it on Recruiting Board with link and credit. If it isn't allowed, I apologize.

Anything positive to say all?

Caldwell got the best review. Keep in mind this is Jerry Meyer and Eric Bossi answering questions as to why some players aren't as high as fans think they should be.

Didn't see article or questions...thanks.

Seems like everyone we are going after fell in the rankings except Caldwell. Chandler fell big time from a 5-star to the 50's range

I have said it before, this kid is JP with a better jump shot. He will not be a PG on the next level which is why we are still pursuing guys like Trevor Lacey. Chris Jones isn't exactly a slam-dunk to qualify. I hope we aren't, in a worst-case scenario, left standing at the altar with no PG in this class (assuming Ware is moved to SF, and Jones didn't qualify).

If by "big shoes" you mean pounding his chest and complaining to refs, then yes he does. If, however you are referring to fundamental basketball skills, he should be able to do just fine.

I'll get flamed, but so be it. J.P. Prince was the best player in the Tourney for us.

I think Maze was, but Prince played great. My Lord though...JP has the...ugliest...shot I have ever witnessed.

Maze was solid. But JP played the best basketball ever in his life. He guarded Evan Turner very well and his offense was good.

But yes, his shot, was terrible. At least he somewhat knew he couldn't shoot though...to an extent.

This is exactly right. The Prince haters on here are ridiculous. He was the most indispensable player on the team the entire second half of the season.

Surely you're not calling me a hater because I pointed out that his shot looks horrendous...

I always thought everyone held his junior year over him for too long. He became a different player and I think he'll be the hardest player to replace. The second half I would take him over a lot of other guards that played.
