Quarterbacks
Christian LeMay (Matthews, N.C./Butler)
He claimed a dozen verbal scholarship offers during the spring and summer. Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee and others indicated to the 6-2, 200-pounder that a written offer was coming. LeMay had more than 2,500 yards of total offense and 25 touchdowns during his sophomore season.
Braxton Miller (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne)
He is the top prospect in the Buckeye State for the 2011 class and already holds an offer from Ohio State. The 6-2, 185-pounder has already run the 40-yard dash in the 4.4-second range.
Teddy Bridgewater (Miami/Northwestern)
The 6-3, 185-pounder has tremendous athleticism. Bridgewater is just as elite a receiver prospect as he is a quarterback prospect, but does have the tools to play under center in college.
Everett Golson (Myrtle Beach, S.C./Myrtle Beach)
He is another Carolina quarterback with dozens of offers on the way. Golson has been a starter in both football and basketball since his freshman year in high school and has led his team to state championships in both sports. Golson also threw for more than 3,000 yards during his sophomore season.
Other quarterbacks to keep an eye on include Brandon Allen (Fayetteville, Ark./Fayetteville), David Ash (Belton, Texas/Belton) and Kiehl Frazier (Springdale, Ark./Shiloh Christian).
We expect more to emerge during the recruiting cycle.
Running backs
Aaron Green (San Antonio/Madison)
The 2,000-yard rusher during his sophomore year is already a wanted man by several of the nation's top programs. He visited USC unofficially during the summer and the Trojans stepped in with a verbal offer. He's also expecting Texas and a host of other schools to offer in the coming weeks.
Jeremy Hill (Baton Rouge, La./Redemptorist)
He is one of two outstanding big backs in Louisiana for 2011. The 6-1, 223-pounder has multiple SEC offers. The other bruiser from Louisiana is Kenny Hilliard (Patterson, La./Patterson) -- the latest standout from the Hilliard family (Dalton Hilliard's nephew).
DeAnthony Thomas (Los Angeles/Crenshaw)
He could be one of the best prospects in the City of Angels for the 2011 class. The 5-9, 170-pounder isn't the biggest back there is, but he's extremely fast and also is a 100-meter track champion.
Savon Huggins (Jersey City, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep)
He could continue the recent tradition of players like New York Jets running back Shonn Greene (Iowa) and Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno (Georgia) as the next elite back to come out of the Garden State. Rutgers and a number of other programs are expected to offer early. Huggins averaged nearly 10 yards per carry during his sophomore season.
Other prospects at this position to keep an eye on are Malcolm Brown (Cibolo, Texas/Steele), Chevelle Buie (Cocoa, Fla./Cocoa), Tyson Coleman (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lake Oswego) and Clemson commit Marlin Lane (Daytona Beach, Fla./Mainland).
Wide receivers
George Farmer (Gardena, Calif./Serra)
He has an excellent shot at being the top overall prospect in the Golden State in 2011. The 6-2, 200-pounder holds verbal offers from USC, Texas, Florida and Oklahoma, among others. He also was one of the top prospects at the Nike 7on in July in Portland, Ore. Farmer has excellent size, hands and speed; pretty much everything you look for in an elite receiver prospect. He also averaged 17 yards per reception as a sophomore.
Miles Onyegbule (Arlington, Texas/Arlington)
Nebraska, Oklahoma State and Tulsa are among the early offers for Onyegbule, who was one of the most impressive sophomores in the Lone Star State last season when he caught 43 passes. The 6-4, 200-pounder has excellent hands and athleticism and stood out at the Texas 7-on-7 state championships this past July.
Kasen Williams (Sammamish, Wash./Skyline)
He is similar to Farmer and Onyegbule in that he has excellent size. He has been the favorite target of Class of 2010 Elite 11 quarterback Jake Heaps' for the past two seasons and currently has a slew of Pac-10 offers. Williams was also one of the most impressive receivers at the Los Angeles Nike Football Training Camp, which featured a lot of top talent at the position.
Jarvis Landry (Covent, La./Lutcher) and Alonzo Lewis (Saint James, La./Saint James)
They are a pair of elite talents from Louisiana and both are heavy early leans to LSU. Some that have a working knowledge of prospects in the Pelican State say either one of them would be the state's top prospect if they were in the 2010 class.
Others to watch at this position include DaVaris Daniels (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills), Phillip Dorsett (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Saint Thomas Aquinas), Joe Morrow (Ocean Springs, Miss./Ocean Springs), Charon Peake (Roebuck, S.C./Dorman), Josh Turner (Oklahoma City/Millwood) and Sammy Watkins (South Fort Myers, Fla./South Fort Myers).
Tight ends
Austin Seferian-Jenkins (Gig Harbor, Wash./Gig Harbor)
He leads a group of outstanding tight end prospects from the Class of 2011. The 6-8, 250-pounder is the top prospect in the Pacific Northwest and one of the top prospects on the West Coast and in the country. Seferian-Jenkins has good hands and is a good blocker, but is versatile enough with his size to potentially play on the defensive or offensive line in college.
Jay Rome (Valdosta, Ga./Valdosta)
He holds early offers from Clemson (where his father played football and basketball), Florida and Florida State. The 6-6, 227-pounder is an outstanding athlete with good hands and a lot of upside.
Ben Koyack (Oil City, Pa./Oil City)
He could be the top prospect in the Keystone State for 2011. The 6-5, 230-pounder already holds multiple offers from programs that recruit the Northeast, including Virginia Tech, Maryland, Boston College and several more are right around the corner.
Other prospects at this position to keep an eye on are Chris Barnett (Dallas/A. Maceo Smith), Troy Niklas (Anaheim, Calif./Servite) and Nick O'Leary (Palm Beach, Fla./Dwyer).
Offensive linemen
Christian Westerman (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton)
He is one of the top offensive line prospects in the West and could be one of the best in the country. The 6-5, 285-pounder already holds verbal offers from USC and multiple Pac-10 programs. He projects as a tackle.
Cyrus Kouandjio (Hyattsville, Md./DeMatha)
He follows the footsteps of his brother, Arie Kouandjio, as a major Division I prospect. The 6-7, 330-pounder holds verbal offers from North Carolina, Boston College, Maryland, Pittsburgh and other programs that routinely recruit Maryland. Expect him to get dozens of additional offers by the time the season ends. He projects as a tackle.
Watts Dantzler (Dalton, Ga./Dalton)
He is expected to be one of the most heavily recruited offensive line prospects in the Southeast. His father played at Georgia, so there are strong connections to the Bulldogs, but most of the country's top programs are expected to offer. He projects as a tackle.
Sedrick Flowers (Galena Park, Texas/North Shore)
He already holds verbal offers from LSU and Texas A&M, but should expect a slew more written offers this week and for the rest of the month. The 6-3, 290-pounder is one of the early players to watch on the interior of the offensive line.
Spencer Drango (Cedar Park, Texas/Cedar Park), La'El Collins (Baton Rouge, La./Redemptorist), Brandon Shell (Goose Creek, S.C./Goose Creek), Connor Hanratty (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) and Matthew Hegarty (Aztec, N.M./Aztec) are other names to watch at offensive tackle.
On the interior, also keep an eye on Nebraska commit Ryne Reeves (Crete, Nebraska/Crete) and Minnesota commit Tommy Olson (Mahtomedia, Minn./Mahtomedia).
Athletes
Eli Rogers (Miami/Northwestern)
He was one of the most outstanding players at the Nike 7on Tournament in July in Portland. He and his teammates were part of the championship team, and his versatility will surely make him one of the more highly recruited prospects in South Florida in the 2011 cycle.
Quincy Aldridge (Whitehouse, Texas/Whitehouse)
He could end up playing his college football in the defensive secondary or at receiver. Look for his stock to really rise with a great junior year.
Terrell Chestnut (Pottsgrove, Pa./Pottsgrove), Damiere Byrd (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek), Clifton Richardson (Newport News, Va./Menchville) and Brian Randolph (Marietta, Ga./Kell) are a few others to keep an eye on.
Jumbo athletes like Ishaq Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./Abraham Lincoln) and Colt Lyerla (Hillsboro, Ore./Hillsboro) are two to watch. Williams is a 6-5, 210-pounder that could play defensive end or receiver/tight end. Lyerla could potentially end up at a number of positions.
Defensive ends
There are several elite defensive ends who have already emerged as national recruits in the 2011 cycle.
Jadeveon Clowney (Rock Hill, S.C./South Pointe)
He could end up being mentioned with other great defensive linemen who have come out of the Palmetto State, such as Florida's Carlos Dunlap and former Penn State and NFL defensive lineman Courtney Brown. The 6-foot-6, 240-pounder is expecting written offers from the Gators, Notre Dame, LSU, South Carolina, Tennessee and UCLA today.
Jalen Grimble (Las Vegas/Bishop Gorman)
He is the cousin of 2010 Under Armour All-American tight end Xavier Grimble from the same school. The 6-3, 255-pounder has verbal offers from Southern California, UCLA, LSU, Tennessee, Utah and others.
Greg Townsend Jr. (Beverly Hills, Calif./Beverly Hills)
He is the son of the former Raiders defensive end with the same name. The 6-4, 242-pounder already has earned a verbal offer from USC.
A pair of Georgia prospects, Ray Drew (Thomasville, Ga./Thomas County Central) and LaMichael Fanning (Hogansville, Ga./Callaway), have extensive verbal offer lists. Florida, Georgia, Florida State and Alabama were the first four in for Drew while Clemson and others have been in on Fanning for well more than a year.
Other potential national names at defensive end include Jermauria Rasco (Shreveport, La./Evangel Christian), Jonathan Harris (Boynton Beach, Fla./Boynton Beach), Cedric Reed (Cleveland, Texas/Cleveland) and DeVante Wilson (Corona, Calif./Corona) are other names to watch.
Defensive tackles
Antwaun Woods (Woodland Hills, Calif./Taft)
The 6-1, 280-pound Woods holds early offers from USC, UCLA and Florida and could pick up several more. He was impressive during multiple camps during the spring and summer and plays for one of the top talent-producing high school programs in the Los Angeles area.
Phillip Dukes (Manning, S.C./Manning), Mustafa Jalil (San Diego/Cathedral Catholic), Tennessee commit Anthony Johnson (New Orleans/O. Perry Walker) and Gabe Wright (Columbus, Ga./Carver) are three prospects who have been getting early verbal offers.
Linebackers
James Wilder Jr. (Tampa, Fla./Plant)
He could be the top prospect in the Sunshine State for the 2011 class and already has dozens of verbal scholarship offers. Wilder is the son of the former Tampa Bay Bucs running back of the same name and is likely the latest national recruit for Plant head coach Robert Weiner and his staff. Florida and Southern California are just two of the major powers showing interest.
Other linebackers to keep an eye on include Stephone Anthony (Wadesboro, N.C./Anson), Rodney Coe (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville), Curtis Grant (Richmond, Va./Hermitage), A.J. Johnson (Gainesville, Ga./Gainesville), P.L. Lindley (Round Rock, Texas/Stony Point), Denzel Perryman (Coral Gables, Fla./Coral Gables) and Kendall Thompson (Carthage, Texas/Carthage).
Defensive backs
Nick Waisome (Groveland, Fla./South Lake)
This corner was outstanding at every combine and camp he participated in this past spring or summer, and he participated in most of them. He has early verbal offers from Florida, Florida State and others.
Leroy Scott (Pasadena, Texas/South Houston), Tyler Hunter (Valdosta, Ga./Lowndes), Doran Grant (Akron, Ohio/Saint Vincent-Saint Mary) and Demetrious Nicholson (Virginia Beach, Va./Bayside) are some other corners to watch.
Enrique Florence (Valley, Ala./Valley)
At safety, he is expected to be one of the top overall prospects in the Southeast for the 2011 cycle. The 6-2, 191-pounder holds early offers from Alabama and Auburn
Kicker
Jake Van Ginkel (Upland, Calif./Upland)
He has been a known commodity since hitting multiple field goals at close to 60 yards as a freshman in high school. He impressed on the summer camp circuit as well.
