2012-13 Pre-Season Ranking?

I know it's early, but what is your take on the Vols being ranked pre-season? I think they will crack the rankings around 21 or 22 to start the season.

Just my opinion, but that is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. They will not be ranked preseason. I'd put money on that.

They are coming off a losing year. Just short of adding Peyton Manning, the press is going to expect little of them initially. If we win our first 3 games, we might crack at 24-25.

I don't think just winning the first 3 games would do it unless we won by 30pts or more per game

Id say 30-40 range. Didn't we start last season in the high 30s?I thought I saw that in an expanded pole. If we head to athens undefeated we probably be 20-25

Ummm.....no. 30-40s. No way you can go 5-7 the previous year and crack the top 25 in the pre-season ranking the next year.

Ox, this is the basketball forum. I assume the op is asking where the b-ball team will be ranked?

IF UT makes it to MSG, most writers will pick up on the fact that they have every significant player besides Tatum (and possibly Hall) returning. I think the buzz of Stokes signing on carries through and UT makes it onto enough ballots to be in the top 25. They are going to get pre-season pub as on of the favorites to win the SEC next year. Hard to see that not at least getting them into the top 25.

I'm still lost I think plus a few people posting about the football team doesn't help.

There shouldn't be a pre-season RPI to be top 50 in. And if your saying they can make it to the top 50 of this years RPI, I don't think winning 3 home games helps much, though 2 at MSG might be nice bumps And SOS isn't going to change much either.

it depends on what happens in the next few days. if we win the nit, yeah, we'll be ranked around 23 or 24. lose, and no ranking.

I don't think Tennessee being ranked at the start of next year is too ridiculous... Compare them to Alabama this year. Barely missed the tournament the year before, then look impressive in the NIT. They will bring nearly everything back (like Tennessee). Alabama was in the Top 25 preseason. Tennessee could be as well.

I'd say barely out of the Top 25, though... 26-30.

I think we'll be ranked. Our front court will be one of the best in America, and we only lose Cam.
