How are we this year? I can't wait for basketball season. As I move into the BBall forum, I wanted to get a temperature check of the group. Here are my questions:

1. Projected starting 5
2. W/L Record or where we finish in SEC
3. NCAA tournament seed and depth

I know #3 is waaaaaaaay down the tracks, but still, give it your best shot. Going to be a fun ride with CCM!

PG: Trae Golden
SG: Skylar Mcbee or Jordan McRae
SF: Jordan McRae or D'montre Edwards
F: Jarnell Stokes
F: Jeronne Maymon

3 spots are set, the 2&3 are up for grabs between mcbee, McRae and Edwards IMO.

I've predicted 22-25 wins, and top 4 in the SEC, that'd earn a 1st round bye in the SEC tourney.

I've predicted a 6 seed or better, and a sweet 16 run.

Point guard play is crucial. Golden has to make good decisions through out the season for this team to go far. If he plays well so will the team.

I agree strongly.

While maymon has taken a leadership role, this team would benefit from golden also taking that roll.

If we can get him to be an extension of Martin on the floor...demand intensity from everyone, hold his teammates accountable, take care of the ball...AND require himself and the wings to feed the post...this team could be very special.

Sweet 16? Little ambitious considering the depth and average guard play for the SEC?!?!

We actually have good depth this year. It's not Duke, but it's pretty good.

Go to his profile and look at his other posts...explains a lot.

He's a TN hater...says Nichols won't come here, blah blah blah. Pay him little attention.

I think we'll surprise a lot of people this year. If we go past the Sweet 16 it will not surprise me. JMO.

Point guard play and staying healthy is the main thing. We got Maymon and Stokes down low. We can make a good run this year. Like what Coach Martin and theis coaching staff is doing. Coach Martin is a good coach.

Golden
McRae
Edwards
Maymon
Stokes
Record something like 24-9
Number 4 seed and an elite 8 run. Maybe final four. This team is built for tourney play, defense, rebounding and reliable post play.

I honestly compare us coming into this season the way that IU came into their season last year. Mature experienced players back and a high profile player (zeller) coming in with some hype like zeller had. I don't think that the sweet 16 is that far fetched.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the way the guys play D for CCM in year 2. You could tell they bought in or were in the process of as last year wound down. I bet opponents will learn to hate playing us because of how physical we are.

I'm more looking forward to the offense. CCM spent a vast majority of his time last year implementing a strong defensive identity. I expect the offense to be very much improved this year to go with a strong defense.

Throw the ball down low, that should be our offense.

Haha I kid, kind of.

I think the play of Jordan McRae is gonna have a big effect on the vols whether it be good or bad. If he steps up and gives us consistency from the 2 or 3 spot. I think the sky is the limit.

I am right in line with BTO on the starting lineup. I am quite optimistic which is not usually the case. Very few teams can match up with our bigs. We have quality and quantity and should be able to wear teams down.

The trip overseas with its opportunity to integrate the newcomers is a very big deal. We should be quite strong from the get go.

The ball handling piece that Quinn referred to in KNS is the big question mark. Still I. like a seed around five or six for NCAA

If Golden makes another jump in this off-season like we saw him make between his freshman and sophomore years, he is gonna be nasty.

I'm all in on this team. I would love to temper my expectations, but it's not going to happen. We play good, hard defense. Offensively we should be much improved. This should be a more experienced and confident team than last year. Until I see them in action and they let me down. I am going to assume that we are going to at least the Elite 8.

I trust in Cuonzo.

I'm excited about Golden too. Can't believe I'm saying this, but he SHOULD be the #1 or 2 PG in the SEC IMO.

Yea i got a feeling that'll be UT's bread and butter until CCM gets his jumpshooters next year.

If stokes is around next year still should be his bread and butter, especially if Nichols joins forces with stokes down low for Tennessee. Work inside out, Hubbs will flourish and the 2 bigs will dominate.
