2013 poll out already

I'm not a ND fan and I realize what site I'm on but I'll never understand the hate for them.

They lost 1 game and people are whining they finished at number 4? And now predicted for #7?

I have no clue what they bring back but the guys who vote and make these preseason polls do. Obviously Michigan started at #5 and Michigan State fell apart but there are always surprises and people don't know everything

ND proved to be one of the top teams this year and in my mind should have finished #2 as the runner-up. Yeah, they had one bad showing against a pretty good team. Great teams lose games all the time

Brian Kelly is doing a good job there. Get used to seeing ND up in the polls.

I feel like ND proved to be a top team against a weaker schedule. They really got exposed when they played Bama and they took two teams to over time. One of which was a sub-par Pitt team. As far as the great teams lose games all the time that would be correct statement. Bama was an example of that. Texas A&M is a good team that Bama lost to while having an off game.

Try living with Notre Dame fans all over the place. You'll quickly change your tune. They're like Alabama fans with a "holier than thou" mentality and half the relevance.

And, USC was preseason #1 last year. I think many hate on ND because they've been pushed down people's throats forever. Mostly, when they were irrelevant.

I think a lot of the hate comes from ND constantly getting the benefit of the doubt. They are preferred in the BCS and they get to remain without a conference and have a plum tv deal to boot. Is some of the hate motivated by jealousy? Absolutely.

But really, what great team did ND beat this year? In August their schedule looked daunting on paper, but almost every single team on their schedule was a massive underachieving disaster.

Stanford - this was clearly the best team ND faced during the regular season but an early and erroneous whistle just handed the game to ND in overtime.

How about the mighty USC Trojans? They were probably the most underachieving team in the country this year.

Oklahoma? Probably the second best team ND faced this year. But also the same Oklahoma that got housed by TA&M in the cotton bowl and lost their only meaningful conference game of the year (K state).

Throw in close games against Purdue, BYU and Pitt and what do you get? A team that had just enough luck to make it to the big game, but was in no way an equal to Alabama.

I personally think an Oregon/Alabama Championship game was the best possible match up. But I guess we'll never know.

Don't forget the astoundingly underachieving Michigan State Spartans.

After the annihilation that nd suffered on national tv by a good, not great, bama team they don't deserve to finish in the top 10. It was an embarrassment for nd, and they were exposed.
