Just received offer from CCM. This kid is a special player and has an incredible offer list.

Jabari Parker Receives SEC Scholarship Offer

Jabari Parker, the 6'7 class of 2013 forward from Simeon Career Academy in Chicago has received a scholarship offer courtesy of the University Of Tennessee. The offer from the Volunteers was confirmed by Parker's father--Chicago basketball legend Sonny Parker.

lol - with that offer list we shouldn't even waste our time unless Martin was his biological father or something.

All the haters gonna hate and all the doubters gonna eat crow...I mean doubt. But I believe CCM is going to be on another level than Pearl was at recruiting. CCM has a special connection with these kids that a lot of elite coaches and other coaches don't/won't have, which will put him at a major advantage. I think we are in good shape and will have top 10 or top 5 classes the next couple of years.

not quite that nice this early on. Plus Bruce was already proven at that point - if it was Bruce's 1st or 2nd year at UT Tobias probably wouldn't have given us a 2nd look.

Sounds like he has a nice game according to ESPN. Would love to battle the big dogs such as Duke to get this guy. Ccm will eventually pull a big time recruit. Just curious to see which one it will be. Impressing Harris to stay this year would say a lot in and of itself

If we can get Harris, we can get Parker. We will not get him or anyone else who is highly ranked if we take your attitude.

i've had the oppurtunity to see him in person. kid is unreal. can finish at the rim at will and can knock back deep fadeaway threes with a hand in his face. on a side note, he was the first freshman to ever make Simeon's varsity team (not even Derek Rose did)

Fairly sure my attitude has no correlation with whether or not we can get a recruit.

If a school like Duke or UNC.. really, really wants a kid - we aren't going to beat them out... even if they're in our home state... maybe if they grew up UT fans then I'd say differently.

I guess we'll see if the Chicago connections will help here

I would say 80% of the time, you are correct. However, as someone else posted, I have a feeling this staff that Martin has assembled will really be able to relate to these 16-18 year old kids in HS. All of our coaches were highly recruited in HS and went on to become very good college players, and some tasted the NBA and/or Euorpean BB. Remember, Harris could have gone to any school in the country and was right in Syracuse's back yard but chose the Vols. If Martin wins, he will be able to get high profile recruits with character.

Duke Crews was high on UNC's board and a lot of other's as well. Scotty could've gone about anywhere he wanted too. If we can get kids to come visit, we stand as good a shot to land them as anyone. Our facilities, fanbase, and arena are better than almost any other college, and are better than some NBA teams. The staff seems to fit like a glove with one another and I really think that as long as we can win games on the court and compete at a high level, all the pieces will fall in line for some outstanding classes in the future.

We will have to see I guess. Yeah they can play that card... but that will only work the first few years. If they aren't producing result - then that card won't matter.

Tobias choosing Tennessee over Syracuse was big. Bruce had a solid foundation though - and stealing a guy from Syracuse still can't compare to stealing a guy right out of Indiana's/UK's/UNC's/KU's/Duke's nose.

Scotty could have gone anywhere - but not many big schools were recruiting him passionately. UK didn't even bother with him to be honest. And UNC still wasn't after Crews that hard - he was a talented, raw player... but UNC has no need to take guys who can't shoot and are undersized. Duke stole Elliot Williams from us fairly easily.

Webster will be the only shot in hell the Vols have of getting Parker. Illinois, UK, UNC, UCONN, Depaul are the favorites to land him. It will be a big task to get him out of the state of Illinois. Illinois and Weber has been on him for at least two years already, and now Depaul is making a huge push to keep the top city players at home. Tough road for the Vols get in on him. I wish Martin & Co. luck.

Is this kid going to be here for 4 years? Why waste our time with a potential one and done when our Coach specifically said he doesn't like recruiting them.

I agree.

Oh wait, Coach didn't say that. You just made that up. Coach said you build around three and four year players. Nowhere did he say nor did he imply that he wouldn't recruit one and done players.

You're wrong! Our coach SPECIFICALLY said it.

He said if he found a player with the right attitude and was the type person on his team, he would recruit him even if he happened to a 5* player. Hen wants team players, not "me" players.

I was kidding. Lyls is on my Hanukkah card list along with Stephen Pearl, John Stewart and Adam Duritz.
