I came across this article that lists the potential new shows that could get picked up for next fall or possibly spring or summer runs.

I think networks should really look into summertime series for shows that could be good but might not be able to bring ratings worthy of being a fall series. Take CBS and Under the Dome last summer for example and I have to say some these especially the dramas sound surprisingly good and hope they are given a shot.

CBS Comedy Pilot ‘Taxi-22′ Pushed

CBS‘ single-camera comedy pilot Taxi-22 is being put on hold because of problems casting the lead. The project, which had been shepherded by the late James Gandolfini, is a one-lead show, with the casting of the central character considered crucial to its success. CBS brass liked the script and gave the pilot the best shot possible by giving it an early pickup in mid-January. (Taxi-22 was actually the first CBS pilot to be greenlighted this season aside from the How I Met Your Mother spinoff). In the end, after a slew of offers, the role couldn’t be cast on time for next fall but CBS plans to keep at it, rolling the pilot to the next development cycle. An adaptation of the hit French Canadian single-camera comedy created by and starring top Canadian comedian Patrick Huard, Taxi-22 is about a misanthropic and politically incorrect NYC cab driver in the vein of Archie Bunker. It had been a passion project for Gandolfini, who first developed it at HBO where he at one point was loosely attached to play the lead. The CBS version was written by Tad Quill, who is executive producing with Dennis Erdman and Clark Peterson, Huard, his producing partner François Flamand, as well as Gandolfini’s managers Nancy Sanders and Mark Armstrong. CBS TV Studios is producing.

NBC Comedy Pilot ‘Fifth Wheel’ Pushed

I’ve learned that NBC’s comedy pilot Fifth Wheel is not going forward, at least for now, after difficulties with casting. With the number of original scripted series on cable and digital platforms exploding, there were major concerns going into this broadcasting season that the depleted talent pool would put extra strain on casting, leading to a number of pilots folding over problems finding the right actors. So far, those concerns have not materialized, with Fifth Wheel the first pilot this season to be pushed. There will not be a noticeable void left as NBC already had ordered the most comedy pilots, 14, as well as two series, Tooken and Mr. Robinson, for next season. Fifth Wheel, from ABC Studios and the Mark Gordon Co., was written on spec by Heidi Niedermeyer & Elena Crevello. It an ensemble comedy of a tight-knit group of friends that centers around a young woman who confronts her new reality after her last single friend gets engaged. Showtime?

Gotham is about the only thing that sparks my interest. There's not much for originality in that list.

The CW- Drama
iZombie:
A med student become a zombie and works in a coroner's office to feed off dead brains, only to discover she can inherit memories and solve the murder cases for each corpse. Starring David Anders, Malcolm Goodwin, and Alexandra Krosney. Produced by Rob Thomas.

'iZombie' casts 'Once Upon a Time's' Rose McIver in lead role

Rob Thomas has found the lead in the upcoming "iZombie" pilot. Rose McIver, most recently seen on "Once Upon a Time" and "Masters of Sex," will star as Liv, a medical student who gets tuned into a zombie and take a job with the coroner to give her easy access to brains.

Liv is forced to eat the brains to retain what she can of her humanity, though which each one she gains the memories of the brain's previous owner. She uses that power to solve murder cases, of course.

The news, which comes from THR, is yet another great thing for McIver. She was also recently announced as taking over for Kiernan Shipka in Lifetime's sequel to "Flowers in the Attic." "One Tree Hill" star Robert Buckley has already been cast as her "iZombie" love interest.

You have to admit he looks more like the comic book version than the 2005 Keanu Reeves film did! Marvel/Disney may be going the streaming route with Netflix but DC Comics/Warner Bros. will have at least two Arrow, Gotham shows and could have a total of (5) comic related shows on network TV come fall if The Flash, Constantine and iZombie get ordered to series!!

Starring Matt Ryan, Lucy Griffiths, and Harold Perrineau. (Based on the comic book character John Constantine aka Hellblazer from DC Comics)

UPDATE: NBC's CONSTANTINE First Images are Spot-On

CONSTANTINE-First-Official-Image1.jpg

Update Thursday, 1045am: After that image hit the 'net last night, today sees WBTV's release of an official shot showcasing Matt Ryan as John Constantine. In the press release, they also released this new official logline for the show:

"Constantine follows enigmatic and irreverent Liverpool con-man-turned-occult-detective John Constantine, who is reluctantly thrust into the role of defending our world against dark forces from beyond."

David S. Goyer, producer on the series, said of Ryan's look, "I’ve been a fan of John Constantine since he was first introduced in 1985. This Constantine, envisioned by Neil Marshall and embodied by Matt Ryan, looks like he sprang directly from the comics’ covers. Fans old and new are going to be in for a treat."

Perhaps trying to circumvent nitpicky comic book fans, the press release also downplayed that Ryan is a Welshman playing an Englishman, calling him simply, "UK Native."

The naturally dark brown-haired Welsh actor who recently cut his genre teeth on Assassin's Creed IV as the voice of the playable character Edward Kenway, dyed his tresses blonde to fit the look of the character. the trademark trenchcoat and loosely tied necktie complete the look nicely (all he needs is a cigarette).

This makes major news this week on four DC Comics shows, following the release of official description and logo for Gotham, the costume for The Flash, and the lead role cast in iZOMBIE.
