Here are the contest rules for the 2014 NASCAR Top 6 Pick'Em Contest. The rules are the same as last year. As of now, there is not a prize for the overall winner yet, but I will contact Freak about it soon.

2014 NASCAR Top 6 Pick'Em Contest Rules

1. Pick the top 6 finishers in each NASCAR Sprint Cup race, and enter your picks in the appropriate thread each week. Picks must be in the order of how you think they will finish. Each race will have a tie-breaker pick which requires picking the finish position of a designated driver.
2. There will be a Pole Position Winner thread for each event. Enter your pick and earn 5 bonus points if you pick correctly.
3. Picks are to be made from a seeded driver listing included in the entry thread. Drivers are split into three groups - A, B & C. You may only pick two drivers from each group.
4. As driver changes and drivers failing to qualify for races are common in Group C, contestants are responsible for making sure their picks are up to date before the deadline or risk receiving a 0 as a score for a driver not in the race. Updates will try to be given regularly to help avoid this.
5. Each contestant will have one “Mulligan”. This in effect means you get to drop your lowest score for the season. Missing a race means you receive 0 for your lowest race score.
6. Entries must specify the exact driver in the case of those with identical last names (example - Busch, Labonte, Gordon). Entries with last name only will be awarded the points of the lowest finishing driver.
7. All picks must be entered by the original listed deadline for each race and pole qualification, or in the event of a postponement, picks must be entered by the new listed deadline. In the event of a delay in the race that will be run on the original race day that doesn't have a set start time, picks must be entered before the start of the National Anthem. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS!
8. Tie-breakers will be - most weekly race contests won, or highest single race score, or most race winners picked, or most pole position winners. In the advent still tied, the winner is the highest scorer in the final race.

Contest Format

1. Picking the pole position winner will earn 5 points.
2. Picking the race winner will earn 5 points.
3. Picking any three of the top six will earn 3 points, picking four will earn 4, picking five will earn 5, and picking all six will earn 6.
4. Picking the top three in correct finishing order earns 3 points, four earns 4, five earns 5, and six earns 6.

Example: You pick Stroker Ace and he wins and leads the most laps. Your other five picks finish 3rd, 5th, 6th, 20th and 30th. The driver finishing 3rd leads a lap. Your total score for that race is; 48+42+39+23+13 = 165 (driver points from NASCAR) plus bonus points for picking the winner and picking four in the top six are 5+4 = 9 for a total of 174. In this example, the pole position winner was not picked.

If there is a disagreement with your score for a given week, post your inquiry in the Pick'Em Results thread for the specific race. All disputes will be handled by SyxxSynse with all decisions final. Your entry each week is proof of agreement with all rules, and to abide with any decision made.

You might want to set out a provision for when someone accidentally picks 3 drivers in the same class. That was certainly an issue for me last year, among others.

Don't forget, starting with Phoenix, the qualifyng changes from it used to be in the past. There will be no more single car runs but they'll do pack runnng similar to pracices. There will be 3 trials and the pole winner will be the fastest at the end of the 3rd trial run.

I wont to ask a question I know you got to have 2 picks from a b c group if you think the driver in B group would win would you pick him first or do you got to pick 1 and 2 in group A AND 3 and 4 in group B and 5 and 6 in group C in other words can you mix them up as long as you got 2 drivers from each group.

If you think a driver from the B or C group will win, just put them first on your list or label them as your winner pick. You can put drivers in whatever finishing order you want, as long as you have only two from each of the three groups.

I am very new to this style of draft. How are the A, B and C groups determined? Will they be different every week? I tried comparing various lists but I couldn't figure it out.

Thanks Burhead.

How is the group order determined? Most of the 13 drivers in Group A are in the top 13 according to NASCAR.com. But for example, Kurt Busch, who is ranked 10th is Group B.

Just trying to understand this better. Thank in advance for the help.

Group order was done last year via points standing if I recall correctly.

Hey Syxx, you have an email address? I need to email you a few weeks of picks. I'm headed to JRTC (Louisiana) in early April for a training exercise for 3 weeks. Won't have much internet or time to get on here much.
