I would guess the majority of those are going to be terrible. Looks more like the year of money-grab reboots and sequels.

This.

Come on...some of those you listed are sequels to movies that were already terrible.

Smurfs 3 and Alvin and the Chipmunks 4? Really? As if any of them have been any good.

Assassin's Creed is based on a video game, and the track record for video game movies is terrible.

Fantastic Four, Terminator, Independence Day 2, and Pirates 5, Jurassic Park 4, all could range from great to terrible. I'll predict they're all at best average going on history.

Out of this list, I can only say for sure I think Avengers 2, Bond 24, Superman/Batman, and Star Trek 3 will be good. The rest will vary, but in no way do I think that list makes 2015 really any better than any other year.

Inferno is the only one on that list I'm looking forward to.

Original ideas are almost extinct in Hollywood

I don't see why anyone would be that excited for Pirates 5. The first one was really the only good one, the last 2 of the original trilogy were not great, and the last one was boring. It's not like Depp is tearing it up lately either.

Wait they are making another Terminator and Independence Day? Where have I been? I'm not really seeing how it will be an epic year for film, most of those look terrible. The ones I'd might go see would be;

Avengers 2
Terminator
Independence Day 2 (Maybe, not sure how you can do another one.)
Jurassic Park
Star Trek 3
Star Wars

I doubt few, if any, of those movies will be shot on film.

Lots of stuff coming. Hopefully something on there is good.

Its my understanding that Terminator is a complete reboot of the franchise?

Possibly the same for Jurassic Park.

I can't remember the last time I saw a movie in a theater... the industry rehashs and remakes and sequels us with half baked crap and expects us to dish out $12 a ticket??

No thanks.

You just gotta be selective. Place Beyond the Pines is a very novel film. There is tons of good original film-making, it's just not what gets advertised.

This. Most good new movies are self-financed and not well advertised.

PS gonna try and go see the new flick from Ryan gosling and the creator of Drive tonight or tomorrow.

Not that I've watched them or have any desire too but the Chipmunks was a hit with its target audience. I remember my niece being all about the first 2 (I didn't know there was a 3). She'll be 14 by the time 4 comes out so I doubt she will care as much though.

Can't really speak on Smurfs but I guess it was successful enough to warrant a couple sequels and a large section at Toys R Us.

Unlike Pixar movies (and to some extent Dreamworks Animated) which are more adult friendly, these are 100% geared for kids and kids only.
