That wouldnt be a terrible move all around. AU doesnt fire Gus so they dont have to pay him. Gus gets to jump ship without being fired and moves to another top tier job. FSU gets a relatively high winning coach without a buyout, if you believe their financial troubles.

If FSU gives him a similar deal he isnt losing anything. That buyout likely gets offset by FSU so he isnt gaining anything additional there.

i don't know the state of FSU AD to comment on your first line. but to the rest you are correct.

i think the first line comes down to who they go after, and how the process goes. if he is their first call and he says no, they probably move on. but if they have heard no a couple times, and that goes public, they might get desperate with Gus.

really i don't know how likely any of it is, just pointing out it makes some type of sense.

Interesting that Malzahn isn’t on there. Granted, Auburn is 7-2, but I think he’s canned if he loses to both Georgia and Alabama and finishes 8-4.

Arkansas would be better off in the Big 12. They would be able to recruit consistently in Texas which they haven't been able to do since they joined the SEC in 1990 and started playing in 1992.
