Totally agree with that. He's under-the-radar doing a really poor job there, IMO, and I don't say that just because we're coming off a win over them. I think he underachieved last year with the talent Mullen left him (Nick Fitzgerald + 4 defensive players who were drafted) and this year they don't look good at all. Unimpressive season opening win over Louisiana, lost to a mediocre Kansas St team at home, lost to a bad Tennessee team. He’s running that program into the ground. Started it with only mustering a 8-4 record with the nation’s #1 total defense and with plenty talent on offense in 2018.
Jimbo's going nowhere anytime soon, but they aren't paying him $75m guaranteed to lose to good teams though. They don't seem to have improved all that much from last year, or even improved all that much from the Sumlin days. I think that's the issue, not that Jimbo is doing a bad job. When you make that kind of money, beating all the teams you should and losing to all the teams that are thought to be better than you isn't satisfactory.Seeing Jimbo that high is a head scratcher. I get they have lost their last couple. But they have been to good teams. Plus buyout means he ain't going anywhere.
I think jimbo gets too much credit for Clemson not starting Lawrence last year when they played them close. I bet with Lawrence in the full time the game looks way different, like this year.Jimbo's going nowhere anytime soon, but they aren't paying him $75m guaranteed to lose to good teams though. The only loss they can be legitimately upset about so far this year in Auburn. A&M was actually a slight favorite in that game even though they were #17 at the time to Auburn's #8. Florida went on to dispatch Auburn without too much difficulty just a couple weeks after that, and a lot of A&M people probably see their program in a similar spot to Florida right now. It's difficult to get too upset about losing at Clemson and to Alabama no matter how much you're paying the coach.
Unfortunately for A&M fans there are probably 2 more losses on the schedule, also to very highly ranked teams (at Georgia, at LSU).
Lawrence wasn't ready to take over Clemson, especially in that spot, when A&M played them last year. I don't think they win that game without Kelly Bryant. It isn't like Lawrence torched them this year anyway. 268 yards with a TD and a pick. A&M struggled in that game because of Clemson's defense; A&M's defense, which is thought to be their weak spot, I thought played fairly well in that game.I think jimbo gets too much credit for Clemson not starting Lawrence last year when they played them close. I agree with you that at 75million he ain't producing what he should.
Tamu wasnt the only game Lawerence hasnt played like he did last year. I dont know about his last games, but they haven't been at their 2018 level of offense. Even with bringing everyone back.Lawrence wasn't ready to take over Clemson, especially in that spot, when A&M played them last year. I don't think they win that game without Kelly Bryant. I think the larger point about Jimbo (or any coach in his position) is that it isn't OK to lose just because you are an underdog. I don't think anybody is expecting him to beat Clemson and Alabama yet, but many think they should have beaten Auburn (they weren't even an underdog in that game), and lots of their fans will want them to beat either Georgia or LSU. Yes, both of those games will be against highly ranked teams on the road and they'll be the underdog, but that's why they hired Jimbo.
Think about this example from their perspective; A&M beat a #8 LSU team last year. Here we are this year and LSU is much improved, however A&M doesn't seem to be, and the coach is making $75m guaranteed. With that kind of guaranteed pay comes very, very high expectations, and they aren't altogether unreasonable. A&M has incredible fan support, facilities, and money coming out of their ears that gets plowed into football. It is totally reasonable for them to expect an elite football program, even if the competition is stiff.
Yeah, A&M beat LSU in that ridiculous 7 OT game last year.Tamu wasnt the only game Lawerence hasnt played like he did last year. I dont know about his last games, but they haven't been at their 2018 level of offense. Even with bringing everyone back.
Wasnt the LSU game in like 5 overtimes last year? Or was that a previous game?
My point is exactly what you are saying. I think TAMU may be showing improvement they just dont have the lightning in the bottle they had Jimbos first. So the fans are probably ticked with the results, but the groundwork is there. Imo, of course.

Believe it or not, I’ve read it’s a $0 buyout, which is astonishing.
South Carolina's defense won that game for them though, not their offense. If Muschamp gleaned anything from Maurer torching Georgia in the first half, it didn't really show up. He also played most of the second half with a backup QB though.I think GA will unexpectedly lose again. Possibly A&M. I think UT exposed them some in the 1st half on how to disrupt them, and Muschamp watched that film over and over, and managed to pull it off for an entire game. Didn't hurt that GA missed the first kick of the season either.
South Carolina will finish the season 5-7 and Will Muschamp will be in troubleSouth Carolina's defense won that game for them though, not their offense. Georgia started slow against Notre Dame too.
He should beat Tennessee, Vandy, and App St to get to 6-6, then he needs to win the bowl game to finish over .500. They likelly have the single toughest schedule in the country this year (Alabama, at Georgia, Florida, at A&M, Clemson). I think the win over Georgia cancels out some of the angst about losing to North Carolina.South Carolina will finish the season 5-7 and Will Muschamp will be in trouble
I think Tennessee will come away with a win over South Carolina. I think the Lamecocks used up their ammo against Georgia! He should beat Tennessee, Vandy, and App St to get to 6-6, then he needs to win the bowl game to finish over .500. Muschamp has an enormous buyout ($18.6m). He isn't going anywhere.
I'm not sure there's anything Muschamp could do to get fired this year. He and his staff have a much bigger buyout than Pruitt does, and South Carolina does not have the resources we do.Hopefully they blew their wad against UGA, play a very physical game against Florida and limp into Neyland. Also, as we all know, App State is nothing to take lightly, especially since they’ve beaten a team that already beat USCjr. If Clemson is still undefeated and people are questioning their schedule being so weak because the ACC sucks they will try to put up aon South Carolina.
Muschamp might’ve saved his job, but he still has a long way to go.
He could do much worse than 5-7 and still keep his job. There's no way South Carolina would pay him almost $20 million to not coach after this season. I'm not even sure they could do it, even if they wanted to.Anyone thinking Muschamp loses his job after beating Georgia at Georgia is fooling themselves. Even without a bowl game.
He’s just not cut out to be a good head coach. Mullen left the cupboard pretty full and a stable program.
And Moorhead is actually recruiting rather well, by Miss State standards.

It's funny their one championship they have comes from the early 80s in the ACC. They have it displayed in their stadium because it's all they got.Beating UK and UGA was huge I think. The loss to UNC after getting blown out by UVA and Clemson to end last season does not sit well with Gamecock money. They don’t like losing 4 in a row to ACC schools, the one thing they have over UNC and Clemson is conference affiliation in the SEC.
