2019 Hot Seat

I’d take him on the hill, if Pruitt doesn’t succeed. I’ve had my eye on him for a while. I love the job he’s done at UAB. He doesn’t get enough credit.

Amen and through this ordeal he's been instrumental at working outside of FB with boosters and local businesses to build support. He's seasoned in dealing with the non-coaching duties that a high level coach has to deal with.

If they win tomorrow which they should it will be his 4 straight (out of 4) season achieving bowl eligibility (1 before the shut down; 3 since). In UABs prior history they were only eligible 2x with 1 bowl invite.

From recruiting to building staff to Xs/Os to motivating players to dealing with the other constituents - he's got it all.

Coaches Hot Seat 2019
Pretty sure Mason's seat is hotter than Pruitt. Yeah I know tbey beat Missouri....like they beat Vols in 2016.

I figure you'd only once make that mistake where you don't plan to play the game against Georgia State. He'll probably never do that one again.

Mason probably has to get to a bowl for Vandy to keep him. That means he has to go at least 4-1 at South Carolina, at Florida, Kentucky, ETSU, and at Tennessee. The only game they will be clearly favored in is ETSU. It's quite possible they aren't even in a position to get to a bowl with a win over Tennessee; they might need to beat Tennessee just to get to 4 or 5 wins. Keep in mind he's now working for an AD that didn't hire him, and he's already fired the basketball coach.

I don't see Vandy doing any better than 1-4. Vandy needs to hire UAB head coach Bill Clark as their next head football coach.

And on the other side of the street:

Harbaugh and Herman should be on the hot seat for salary vs performance alone... Jimbo too.

1) Joe Moorhead Mississippi State--- Legit
2) Chad Morris Arkansas--- Will be fired for sure
3) Wille Taggart FSU--- Depends on the bus route
4) Jeremy Pruitt Tennessee--- Should be outside the Top 10
5) Lovie Smith Illinois-- Wisconsin win might buy him another season
6) Clay Helton USC-- Urban is calling
7) Chip Kelly UCLA-- Does anyone care about UCLA football?
8) Manny Diaz Miami--- He'll get one more year
9) Will Muschamp South Carolina-- See Lovie
10) Kalani Sitaki BYU---- Hearing he is going to get one more season
11) Mike Bloomgren Rice--- Honestly no clue, it's Rice
12) Doug Martin New Mexico State--- They have a football team???
13) Randy Edsall UConn-- They'll hire some MAC coach
14) Bobby Wilder Old Dominion---- Aren't they a moving company??
15) Dana Dimel UTEP-- Don't hire a coach with a girls name
16) Philip Montgomery Tulsa--- It's Tulsa
17) Matt Luke Ole Miss-- Must be pretty safe if he's behind programs like Old Dominion, NM State and Tulsa
18) Pat Fitzgerald Northwestern-- Who they gonna hire? He's the best NW will be able to get
19) Jimbo Fisher Texas A&M--- Can't afford to fire him
20) Derek Mason Vanderbilt-- Should get a lifetime contract :)
21) Scott Frost Nebraska-- Shouldn't be on the top 40 list. He'll get at least 2 more seasons.
22) Kirby Smart Georgia-- Yeah right
23) Tony Sanchez UNLV--- UNLV?
24) Steve Addazio Boston College---- No clue
25) Justin Fuente Virginia Tech-- Is rebuilding the program
26) Steve Campbell South Alabama--- See NW
27) Dana Holgorsen Houston--- Can still recruit
28) Charlie Strong USF--- Charlie should have stayed at Louisville
29) Mike Bobo Colorado State--- Who cares
30) Frank Wilson UTSA- They're D1??

I could see Illinois going 6-6 and going bowling at the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit which would probably get Lovie Smith 3 more years.

Way too early for Herman to be on any sort of a hot seat. Their performance against Kansas was a joke but the losses this year are both close games to teams who could very well be in the playoff. You combine that with the fact he beat Oklahoma once last year and Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and he's fine. If he can't ever get over the Oklahoma hump though, he risks becoming like Harbaugh though.

Pruitt shouldn't be that high. But check back next Monday, I'm sure if we lose Saturday he'll lose some support he gained. Even though without Maurer it will be a bigger challenge.

Pretty sure Pruitt gets next year unless he loses to both UAB and Vandy. I did think a Vandy loss would get him fired, but I think if Maurer doesn't play rest of year, Pruitt has JG to scapegoat.

Texas just lost to a horrible TCU squad and didn't look good doing it
