2019 Hot Seat

Northwestern hasn't scored an offensive touchdown since October 6th and I think Pat Fitzgerald is sitting on a very hot hotseat right now.

I think the next Arkansas head coach will be either Bill Clark,Hugh Freeze or Mike Norvell.

Don't count out Gus Malzahn. If Auburn doesn't beat UGA or Bama, then he's not going to be coaching the barn in 2020. I could see them waiving the buyout to let Arkansas hire Gus without officially having to fire him.

Bill Clark makes a lot of sense at Miss State or Ole Miss. I’m not sure if Arkansas would go that route.

Bill Clark at Miss State would be a perfect match for both parties. But I think State fans will likely have to wait another year.

I think Gus will beat Bama, so he should be safe.

But, Bill Clark is definitely a strong fit at one of the lower tier SEC schools. For whatever reason, the new AD at Vandy seems to want Mason gone. He might jump to State, and Clark to Vandy.

While he is on the market, I see the Gators going after Urban. He is a Top-5 type coach.

Cocks are sick of Muschump....going to be a lot of movement this December.

I think if Moorhead wins 6, including the Egg Bowl, he gets another year. But if he finishes 5-7, all bets are off.

I don’t know if State fans would get behind Mason, although he is a good coach and he is not the problem at Vandy.

I agree that a lot of movement is coming. We’re due since last season had zero changes.

Gus, Luke, Mason, Moorhead, Morris, Muschamp, and even Odom are all possibilities and I’d say likely half of that list will be out of a job at the conclusion of the season.

Yeah, I am friends with a State guy and he actually seems ok with Moorhead. If they beat Ole Miss, I think he gets another year.

Hugh freeze in Arkansas makes a lot of sense. Winner. SEC west experience. Close ties to Memphis which is maybe the closest talent rich area. Not saying their schemes are the same but Freezes offense is much closer to the guys Morris has recruited than going to another Bielema type. Arkansas has a history with coaches with off the field issues.

I think Miss State goes 6-6 and plays North Carolina in the Independence Bowl and I can't see them firing him when they went to a bowl game.

What makes you think Auburn will beat Alabama? Why would anyone hire Mason? He has never had a winning season at Vandy and the only reason he has not been fired at Vandy is because UT has been dis functional by the end of the season the last several years.

Probably the best case scenario for all involved.

On the first question, just a gut feeling. Auburn at home with no pressure. Bama is not as strong as recent years. Linebackers are weak. Gus does just enough to keep his job. Doubt that Tua is 100% for remainder of this year.

Derek Mason is an excellent defensive coach. I think the new AD at Vandy just wants to pick his own people. Already hired Jerry Stackhouse for basketball. Football and women's b-ball will be the next to change. Mason just hasn't clicked with the Nashville area. I think he will find a equal/better gig and make it a win-win.

I haven't seen many names mentioned for Florida State, besides the fantasy of Urban Meyer. Personally, and this is just my opinion, I think Clemson's Brent Venables would be a good fit there. He's an excellent DC, knows the regional and ACC landscape, recruits well, and gets his guys to the NFL. FSU might want a bigger name or someone with HC experience. Roadblock might also be his son is on the Clemson roster.

Hope they hire an equally talented dancer.

I think if there is ever a job for Lane Kiffin to get back into SEC, it’s Ole Miss or Arkansas.

I don’t see Ole Miss canning Luke this year however.

Mason is a good defensive coach but an average HC. Vandy is terrible this year and he’s yet to have a winning season. Miss St fans would revolt if they hired him.

Jeremy Pruitt wont be in the Coaches Hotseat Top 50 in 2020 when Tennessee finishes 7-5 and goes to a bowl game this season. Will Muschamp will be in the Top 10 when South Carolina loses to Appalachian State on Saturday.

Interesting that Malzahn isn’t on there. Granted, Auburn is 7-2, but I think he’s canned if he loses to both Georgia and Alabama and finishes 8-4.
