That's the only thing I don't personally make. My parents always come down here, so I cook. Except the dressing, that's my mom's job because it's so good.
Yeah, I never made it either cause my Nanny and my mom held the patent on it. Then hubby's mom made it. But I gotta figure it out this year cause there's nobody else to make it.

I'm interested in how it does in a crockpot. I did a meatloaf a couple of mobths ago, and it was good. I'm gonna try to write down mom's recipe this year for it.

His mom always cooked, til she wasn't able to. She didn't want to be there, but we couldn't let her do all that work at home, ya know? And it looked like others were in our situation too.
Yeah get your meaning -- It was never the same since my dad died 6 years ago -- now this is the 1st year without my mom - nobody feels up to it I guess

First one without my mom we all went to a cabin in Townsend for the weekend. Last year, first one without hubby's mom, we went on a cruise with his sisters.

The firsts are the worst.

Scalloped potatoes au gratin, oyster dressing and conventional. Mac and cheese baked. Asparagus casserole. And of course turkey. That's usually the main fare at my Thanksgivings

I've never had oyster dressing.

Dollywood is open Thanksgiving. We'll probably make an appearance at a family dinner and then head over there for a few hours.

It does! Thank you so much!! I feel like it's a sacriligious thing, lol. But I need to simplify a little bit this year.
If I think about it, I will ask sister Kathy for her recipe tomorrow at work. If she shares it, I will post it for you.

Honestly, I'm hoping to be invited to the daughter's for T-Day. I'm hoping the son-in-law smokes two huge turkeys and gives us the remnants of the bird carved for dinner.
Maybe you should drop some not so subtle hints. Like hey, what time do you want us to come over for dinner?!?! šŸ˜
