the 4 highest ranked conference champions get a bye. teams ranked 5-8 host a playoff game on campus at their home stadium. If this is correct, that adds a very exciting new dimension to college football !
EA sports has it in CFB 25.......so it must be true.

The obvious gripe with this format is that the Big 12 and ACC champions have no business getting locked into automatic byes. Conferences in college sports are not created equal and they need to stop trying to act like they are.
It's not perfect , but more results based and less opinion based , than what we have had in the past . 5 of the 12 teams will be based off of results (ON THE FIELD) 7 of the 12 picked by the selection committee based off of (selection committee members OPINION , of what they seen on the field )

The first round games are the most exciting thing about the expanded playoff. Can y’all imagine how hype Neyland would be with a team like Notre Dame or Ohio State coming in to play a December playoff game, or how sick it would be to watch the Big Orange go play an elimination game at Beaver Stadium or the Big House?

Between first round playoff games and OU and UTjr joining the conference, we’re going to be playing a lot more matchups against other top 10 all-time programs.

There is at least 8 SEC teams that could factor into the inaugural 12 team CFP . The problem as always , we play each other. I think 10-2 gets us in , I like our chances . GO Vols !! Man I love college football !!
10-2 is a lock for the playoffs. We were 6th in the nation (should have been 5th or 4th arguably) in 2022. 9-3 could have us in the conversation at least. Not likely, but honestly possible.
