2024 Recruiting Thread

Wait. Is that really about to happen? Unlimited official visits? Think of the scheduling nightmares this will cause. 😲 Recruiting budgets will have to increase dramatically. Many schools will spend thousands of dollars hosting kids who have zero intention of committing there but just wanted to go somewhere and be courted. Ugh. What a mess.
Wined and dined!!

Actually, except for the expense of extra hosting, the one visit rule should help the LVs. Apparently our facilities make quite a first impression. Three of our best recent recruits pointed to our facilities as a major factor. Rickea described them as "gorgeous" a meaningful upgrade from her go to "cute". Jill said if she had seen them in person instead of video (bc of covid) she would have come here in the first place. Maria's story on Destinee Wells said she had other visits scheduled, but when she and her Dad saw the "palacial" LV quarters, they looked at each other and said "It's not going to get better than this" and she committed on the spot. All also mentioned the family feel once they got here.

Some casual recruiting tourists may end up more impressed than they thought.

Well good. At least they won't come up empty in 24, which is a relief. And this player looks promising.

Now back to the recruiting matter at hand, a 2 guard out of the portal for next year.
who aheesah morrow seen on facebook she going to release her top 3 soon.

I hope we are looking at the kid, I know her game will translate in college.

You know??? Seriously? I've read a lot of your posts but having the belief you KNOW based on short clips and write-ups that a HS player's skills will translate in college is hyperbole. You seem to forget a team is just that a team. There are many talented players who's game might not fit into a programs offense or at any given time a program might not have a need for that player because they have players with similar skill set. All coaches recruit over players at some point but if it becomes a regular thing it hurts recruiting. Maybe the kid and/or family isn't a fit culture wise. If it's that easy to recruit why have coaches and their staff used official visits to meet the players, why do they follow players for a few years, go to their games, meet with their families and make sure they are a fit with current players. before making offers., Add in the conversations players and coaches are having as far as NIL money and the difficulties that presents. Or what about AAU coaches who steer their players towards specific schools.

You have no idea if these players arent choosing TN for reasons out of the staff's control.Nobody on this board know's what the coaching staff is working on or what happens on visits with these kids , Sure there are always those 1-2 players in every class that are so good everyone will want. But recruiting has so many factors it's way more than watching clips and reading about players.

As a fan I am unhappy with our last 2 recruiting classes but I also don't know the specifics. Recruiting is not as simple as you make it out to be.

I’m not reading all of that, but that’s not all I saw, that’s just what I posted. I have my opinion on talent just like u have yours. Just like when Justine was coming I said she looked slow and I didn’t see a game changer, now guess what......

Oh and I just decided to look up some players since I had time today, who knows who we will recruit or not but I just thought it was good to share a player I thought was good.
