Really no way to say who has the best roster right now as I think they are all extremely close. If LSU gets Fulwiley and Williams I can see them having the edge that recruiting class has a couple of super players so with those two joining they look as strong as anyone. SC got two in lost two look to be depending on an injured player to make a lot of difference. Other than Fulwiley they also lost two key perimeter players. Oklahoma has most of their best players back adding a top five three point shooter and if they get Kneepkens would certainly boost them into a very elite roster. Texas has added Cunningham which is perfect for their style the number seven freshman they have coming in is good have most of their key perimeter players and Oldacre inside all back. So they have a lot of talent as well.
Tennessee number one or two recruiting class depends on who you want to listen to. Two key post players out of the portal that replace two that were just average at best. I think our roster is potentially as good as anyone in the SEC. Any of those four teams could be in position to win the SEC will depend on scheduling as much as anything else. If you had a road schedule that included LSU, Oklahoma, and one of the other top four that looks like a couple of losses this season as all these teams have weapons they didn't have last season. I wouldn't want to play any of these top four on the road this season much harder than last season.
I pretty much agree with Rooster's projections, but would put us below Oklahoma and Texas, especially if one of them gets Kneepkens. After that, I'd say Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky. Those all certainly look like top 25, if not Sweet 16-type teams. I also think Georgia should be really improved with their transfers and freshmen they're bringing in. I thought Florida might lose more than they did in the portal, so maybe they'll be improved, too. Alabama still has some pieces but I think they take a major step back.
Agree with you that a lot will come down to scheduling. Of those top 8, we know we'll play Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Ole Miss on the road, with Texas, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky at home. LSU we don't know, and we don't know who we might have to play twice.
South Carolina, LSU, Texas, and Vanderbilt are similar - 3 at home, 3 on the road, 1 TBD. Oklahoma and Kentucky have 4 at home, 3 on the road (double match-up TBD). Ole Miss has 2 at home, 4 on the road, 1 TBD.
In a league this competitive, looks like Ole Miss will have the toughest draw, and Oklahoma and Kentucky will get a slight leg up.
