you can coach most anything: heart, athleticism, mind-set, work ethic, skills, decisions, mentalities,,,pretty much anything thing that can be instructed or change (yes you can change mental tendencies,,,people change their mind all the time)...but you can't coach height.

and this is the only thing to me that can't be coached
the other thing I won't teach is "passion for this sport"..as Pat once said to a small group of us at an SEC women's tourney...("I will coach anything but passion, if I have to teach you to love my game, I don't want you"

Can Kellie coach, still debatable, she sure can't recruit. Holly always had classes rivaling uconn and Baylor several times beating them. She wasn't a motivator. But her guards were able to dribble and not turn it over. Last two sessions. Jordan had to bring it up the court. Stupid line ups, question, for me is answered, time to get a coach. We should have gone after a Mulkey. I said it then. All the orange colored glasses just gang up on anyone speaking the truth.

But she doesn’t…. She lives and grew up in Louisiana! But nice try ? 🤷‍♂️

Now's the time I would dust off my "the #1 ranked recruit in each women's college basketball recruiting class almost always wins a national title" post with the numbers and the ranking stuff and things.

But it's hot and I'm lazy so I'll just reference it and hope it sounds legitimate enough that I don't have to do any real work. Just keep coasting 'til November. Too hot for summer tiffs and scuffles.

Just curious who has said we don't try? I made the comment about those 20+ ranked recruits because we seem to lose bidding wars when it comes the top 20. We need more corporate sponsors and individual donors to be able to pay 150K+ for a freshman player. The going rate is that or more for most of the top 20.

Oh I wasn't commenting at all on the staff's actions - I have no firsthand knowledge of their efforts. I assume they try, because we see a lot offers in the Top 25. I'm not questioning the staff's intent with those remarks.

I'm just echoing those who are saying "gotta sign top 10 recruits to be competitive at the highest level," because I think that's been proven out by the results these past 15 years. Really, it's more the top 5, and the success especially follows those #1 ranked players. You sign 'em and they tend to win big and they tend to win titles. It's not a guarantee, but it IS better odds. I think this happens for several reasons; a smaller recruiting pool partially bouyed by a larger recruiting system (men's basketball), a more pronounced separation between elite athletes and good/great athletes, and a much smaller selection of top tier schools for those recruits to consider. It all hyper-concentrates things in a way the men's sport doesn't. And some of that can be seen in the success of those recruits at the top of all the lists.

Dang it. I didn't want to write anything out, I wanted to be lazy. DANG IT. *sigh*
