2025 Recruiting

And had Candace Parker, 6'4"s Kelley Cain and Nikki Anosike and 6'6" Vickie Baugh on the team with her. That's a whole different story.

Hopefully they'll pick up some some size in the portal. If not, w only 2 players 6'2" or above on the roster, we'll find out one way or the other if its true size is out of date in basketball.

How does playing with those women make Bobbitt any taller?

please God let Wynn be healthy next year. she is an elite defender and can play multiple positions with any press
I am sure this will be an unpopular opinion. And I certainly hope I am wrong. But I do not see very minutes available for her next season. She is too limited offensively. And we do not have the same defensive personnel liabilities that we have this season. So her defensive upgrade over the other guards would be minimal and not enough to offset her offensive limitations. I worry she will be in the same situation that Favor is in this season.

I just looked up the roster to make sure I was accurate with who all was coming back. If we don't add any transfers (seems unlikely) then Wynn could actually find a spot since we will be committed to playing at least 10 players. She would basically need to beat out Strickland and Hurst. I think she could bring enough to the table defensively to earn minutes over both of them. So I might be wrong. The issue is that I am certain we will add some transfers that will fit into the rotation.

It doesn’t. I gave an example of Baylor a Top 20 team playing four players together 5’9 and under with a 6’3 forward at the 5. Tennessee still with a new look roster under CKC has more size and length than most WBB teams. CKC said after signing the class to the public in a press conference she has a few spots to fill when it’s time to enter the portal. She doesn’t have to go out and sign the first player from HS or the transfer portal that’s 6’4 just to add size that won’t fit the system.
Based on 10 months of recruiting, to me this idea of projecting how successful Mia and Mya will be at Tennessee is just a ploy to negate the enthusiasm of an elite #1/#2 HS recruiting class.
As I’ve mentioned, Baylor is one example but several other Top 25 teams have guards playing at 5’5-5’7 without a traditional post player on their roster.
Lauren Hurst 6’2, Deniya Prawl 6’1, and Jaida Civil 6’0 tell me where that HS class is lacking overall size and length?
It’s highly likely that CKC adds two post players from the portal, if both are in the 6’3-6’5 range then with Spearman 6’4, Latham 6’2, Hurst 6’2, Prawl 6’1, and two guards in Cooper and Civil over 6’0 the team next season on paper is even bigger in terms of size. That’s 8 players over 6 feet.
Lastly, there is only two players listed at 6’4 in the Top 50 in ESPN 2025 player rankings and neither is a traditional center. The 2026 class is no different. CKC is before her time and that’s why right now she’s a legit candidate for Coach of the Year in Year 1 on the D1 level.

She IS an athlete,,but has not impressed me on the offensive end and not a 3 pt threat at all 3-16 last year...I'm unfortunately in full agreeance with this post.

I have seen her this season several times, in a boot and limping,,so I know she could not have worked on this weak part of her game

Easy does it. Steady as she goes. We’ve got a portal cycle and all summer to disrespect Wynn. You’ll be fine…

By the end of last season most of us were already thinking how glad we were that our defensive dog Kaiya Wynn would be coming back for this season, so if she does make a full recovery and gets her lateral quickness back, she WILL be a defensive leader.

No, she was never a consistent score, but again, toward the end of last season it was clear to me she had improved there, too, and had gotten MUCH better at finishing on her drives into the lane. I suspect she'll be working on all aspects of her offensive game as soon as she is cleared to do it, and since she's such a gifted athlete I'm confident she'll be another strong weapon in Kim's arsenal next season. Again, that's assuming she makes a full recovery. Her mature leadership will be much needed after we lose Jewel, Tess and Sara.

I also question whether Kaiya will come back. Probably depends on who we get fm portal.

I also think the twins are among the top of the class and I'm glad we have them.

The role of size in today's game is a legit ongoing bball discussion. We can agree to disagree there.
