Here it is: this one will decide the SEC East division and who will represent in the SEC Championship next week. If Missouri wins, they're in the SEC Championship. If they don't, South Carolina wins the East, goes to Atlanta, and the play of Shaw (and the Columbia collapse) becomes the stuff of legend in both Columbias.

Does Missouri, at home, have one more in them? Or will Texas A&M's Johnny Football - still harboring hopes of winning a Heisman - come out tonight and in his last college SEC game lead the Aggies to make this the Waterloo of Missouri's season? Is James Franklin fully healthy or are his injuries still bothering his play?

Will Missouri make it's first SEC Championship, or will they remain among the likes of Ole Miss, UK, Vandy, and A&M?

Will the key here be the play of Missouri's offense against the A&M's defense, in a race to put up more points? Or will the Missouri defense, led by Michael Sam, be the ones to step up and contain Manziel along the blueprint set up by LSU last weekend?

If Bama vs Auburn was the biggest conference game of the week, this has to be the second biggest.

Fun fact: The SEC originally wanted to swap Missouri-A&M and USCe-Arkansas starting this season, however inability to fully flesh out an SEC schedule caused them to postpone doing so until the following season.

…this was almost this year's Missouri vs this year's Arkansas (possibly on Fri) with the SEC East on the line (I'd imagine Carolina is relieved it's not)

So far Missouri hasn't shown up. 2 drives, no points against this defense is a bad sign.

Final score: 28-21 Missouri

Tigers win their first ever SEC East championship in their second season in the SEC.

I said a few weeks ago there's one thing I've learned this year and that's to never count Mizzou out. Pinkel did an amazing job, I don't care if the East is "down". It kills me that this new blood is finding success in the SEC while we, an old guard struggle, but I would still rather see Mizzou in there over anyone besides us.

Can't agree with the bolded part more. I can see A&M's success...there is talent out there. Missouri, on the other hand...yeah, that's frustrating.

The way I have thought of it is that they are at a point (and location) where their success is less detrimental to future recruits we look at in our SEC recruiting grounds than say USCe's, UGA's, or UF's success is.

They also seem to recruit more towards a specific system…so probably less clash there.

Based on his career there, he honestly should not have been considered "hot seat" just for 1 5-7 season:

2006 8-5
2007 12-2 - conference championship game
2008 10-4 - conference championship game
2009 8-5
2010 10-3
2011 8-5

and then 2012's 5-7

Gary Pinkel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I think people were kind of annoyed at the multiple 8-5s, and there was that mid-season DUI in 2011 that people who wanted him gone liked to hold against him.

I definitely agree, that's why I'd rather it be them. Despite not being in the Big 12 anymore, I think Pinkel and Co. will continue to make a concerted effort to recruit Texas because of the relationships and presence they've built there as well as the Midwest and cherry pick where they can in the Southeast.

Plus, I don't yet despise Muzzou like the rest of the East. If they keep this up and keep beating us I'll have no use for them either.
