This is the record of the 3 teams that actually "beat" us this year. Bama, Oregon, and Missouri and technically all in the running for the national title. We physically and mentally were beaten by the BEST. We should and could have beaten UGA and UF had it not been for a fumble in the endzone and a QB that completed more interceptions that passes to his own players.
Got on my orange glasses. We're going 6-6 or possibly 7-5.

Get er dun Butch!!!

Its not like we are playing in the little 10, this team would go 8 and 4 in the little 10.

So, let me get this straight. You are looking at the record of opponents we lost to, and excluding the teams you personally feel that we should have beaten? So since we lost to 2 teams we should have beaten, isn't that, by definition, underachieving?

If every team excluded losses that shouldn't have happened, then no coach would ever be on the hot seat again.

I agree about UGA, but we got dominated by UF in the 2nd half.

Can we get this thread removed? Should've and could've are excuses. South Alabama "could've" beat us as well.

So, Georgia and Florida didn't "actually" beat us?

A little number twisting going on for sure but if you add in the records of UF and UGA it would still prove a point.

Well, we already knew our schedule was tough. It wouldn't prove a new point.

The only thing this thread proves is that OP is incapable of rational thought. He would make a great politician, though.

Respectfully, I totally disagree with you about Florida. We should have been up 3 touchdowns and the half in that Florida game had it not been for Peterman getting lit up. The second half was won by gators but had peterman not played that day we would have won or atleast been there at the end.

I'm listing the teams that basically whipped us. We lost to UGA and UF but the orther 3 were just on a different level and I was showing that their record backs the statement.

What makes you even think you could reasonably assume this?

So if we had played better, we would have beaten Florida. Got it.

They beat us 31-17

False.

But, see, we didn't beat them. The fumble in the endzone DID happen, and we had a QB who DID complete more interceptions "that" passes to his own players. So they beat us.

Georgia certainly beat us and Florida tuned us up in the second half. Not sure how you can reasonably contest otherwise

We were in it with UGA and UF. However Bama, Oregon, and mizzou beat the Hell out of us and pulled up at the end like we were Austin peay. That's the difference.

When were we "in it" with UF???? The first ten minutes?? A L is a L and a W is a W. Using your logic determining if we get beat, could usce say that we lucked out in our win and we really didnt beat them?

Mizzou lost in overtime to SC when their kicker missed a 20 yard field goal. I am hoping we can play a great game Saturday.

Ummm yea I am.
Peterman was 4/11 passing for 5 yards in the 1st half. Also had 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles. 3 turnovers on their side of the field if I'm not mistaken. How much did we lose by, 14 right? So passing for 5 yards and 3 turnovers on scoring drives... I'm saying we LOST the game. We weren't manhandled like Oregon Bama and mizzou did us

More proof that Vol Nation posters, including OP, can count.

Beyond that, not much here.

Fulmer should have recruited better and not hired Clawson, Kiffin could have stayed, and Dooley would have sucked regardless.

No place for should have, could have, and would have in football. It's the score at the end of the games that matters.

At the time we played them, their defense was healthy and one of the top D's in the country. We didnt "lose" that game, they beat us.

We came as close to beating Georgia as we came to losing to South Carolina and South Alabama. If the excuse patrol doesn't want to count the loss to Georgia, then they certainly can't count the wins over South Alabama or South Carolina.

I don't see any argument for why the Florida game shouldn't count. We had as big a break as you're going to get there (the starting QB gets hurt in the 1st quarter and they have to use a back-up who has never completed a pass in college) and we still lost by 14 points. How was that even close to a win?

If Bray or C.P. were on the team this season, we would have beat both Florida & UGA.

We just needed that extra play from the q.b. or that extra play from a kick off or punt return.....

Worley & Peterman weren't getting the receivers the ball in the UGA & Florida game. Had Bray been the q.b., he would have been able to get the ball to them.....

I'm with you. If Peyton Manning, Adrian Peterson and the entire '85 Bears defense were on this team, we would be at least 7-2!

Not "should have" beaten but "could have" beaten. Also, I don't recall getting dominated by Florida in the 2nd half. I recall Worley coming in after the 1st half disaster that was Peterman and moving the ball to make it respectable. I recall our defense forcing some 3rd downs and then giving up some huge conversions to a second string QB.

I understand the OPs point, which is, the games in which we were "thoroughly beaten" were games vs some of the very best teams in the country...including #1Bama, #2Oregon and #9Missouri.
