Definitely a couple that stood out were among the in-state guys in Tennessees class, Callahan said of the high school players who began their seasons this week.
For the 2018 class, Callahan said Alontae Taylor, the four-star athlete out of Manchester, Tenn., had a "huge game." Although the Vols are recruiting Taylor at wide receiver, he's been showing his versatility for Coffee County Central at the quarterback slot.
[Taylor] plays quarterback for his team [and] had six touchdowns total including, I believe, four rushing, one passing and one receiving. So to have that kind of game shows you the kind of athlete he is.
Callahan also mentioned Ty Chandler, the four-star running back in the 2017 class from Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville.
Chandler also, in his first game since committing to Tennessee a little more than a week ago, had more than 200 yards rushing, so a good start to his senior season, Callahan said.
As for Tennessee's current lineup, there's still a lot of room for moving and shaking as young talent competes with a slew of returning starters. According to Callahan, things look pretty solid to start, but there is always room to reconfigure as the Vols get into the swing of things this season.
I think things are pretty much mostly set as far as who well see next week," the analyst said. "The big question is who well see after that. You know, does that first game or the second game maybe start to change some things in the starting lineup?
