People keep saying the offense is broken and other such things, which I don't really agree with. I think it is a bit disrespectful to the job Dylan Sampson and the OL have done in the run game. Also, a "broken offense" doesn't average 463 yards and 37.3 points per game playing in the SEC(both ranked 8th in the country/2nd in the SEC). I think the reason why people say and think these things is because they are accustomed to more explosive plays from Josh Heupel offenses. In my opinion, the biggest issue is execution in the red zone due to a variety of things, from untimely turnovers to crippling penalties and dropped/overthrown passes.QB Hooker & RB Sampson. Pretty darn good.
Maybe the offense isn’t as broken as many in the media want to claim as much as it’s how SEC DC have chosen to defend it
Congrats Dylan.
Tell me a big passing game offense in the SEC this year. Ga, bama, Ole Miss, Texas, all with experienced QBs, struggled throwing the ball compared to expectations. Defensive coordinators have chosen to make offenses take the long road with occasional blitzes mixed in. They’re definitely not playing like they did in 2022.It's great for the program but the offense is still broken.
Maybe so, I don't know but I know our offense isn't very impressive overall. It shouldn't scare anyone for sure.Tell me a big passing game offense in the SEC this year. There have been SEC players of the year who were not Heisman finalists, quite a few over the years. The last RB to be POY before Sampson, Kerryon Johnson was also not a Heisman finalist. The position has just been devalued so much in recent years it doesn't get the recognition it often would have in years past.Neither was a Heisman finalist… every other SEC player of the year was…
And the explosive plays are there. The scheme still works. We just aren’t hitting them at the rate we usually do. Hendon was exceptional at it. Nico is still progressing. There’s been a lot of overthrows and he’s just not seen the open guy. And some bad drops mixed in there. People need to chill.People keep saying the offense is broken and other such things, which I don't really agree with.
