3 major changes since last year

1. OL is not nearly as good. We are currently without 3 of our top 4 OL from last year.
2. Hooker was a brilliant game manager, in addition to his ability to place the ball.
3. Halsze doesn’t seem to be thriving as the OC and QB coach.
Could have just said “significant regression.”

It's not Halzle. Heupel is calling the plays. I had grievances with the playcalling in '21 when he called plays (especially Ole Miss). I don't think it's a stretch to say Golesh is a better playcaller.

There are a lot of deficiencies, but great quarterback play is everything. There’s no single position in another team sport that matters as much as quarterback. And this is the way this season was always going to go. You guys can say oh yeah…if I’m smart why aren’t I a coach blah blah blah. But I’m gonna tell you something… Milton has been god awful since the moment he first took a snapper Tennessee. He’s big and has a strong arm, and occasionally he’ll look very good. But he just doesn’t have it. He runs out of bounds as the clock has already expired. He doesn’t move the chains. He throws too many in accurate passes. He doesn’t snap the ball when they’re trying to sub and have guys offsite. When we get a free play, he doesn’t take a shot down field. He just doesn’t have “it”. And I don’t know why the smartest coach we’ve had here in my lifetime can’t figure out what is a very basic easy to spot fact. Some quarterbacks have “it”. Some don’t.
We were always going to struggle this year, because Milton was always going to be the quarterback. But he didn’t have to be. Are genius offensive coach could have planned for life beyond hooker, and had someone else in place and ready to go.

1. Milton can’t play under pressure. If we are up a ton he is ok. He is mentally slow. He has no awareness. He has no feel if he has to move. His presnap posture gives away run or pass. His demeanor looks panicked

2. Ollie Lane still sucks. So does Dayne Davis. It’s are terrible and shouldn’t see the field.

3. Tamarion McDonal is still slow, soft, and unreliable.

4. Our Rbs are our best players and they aren’t game breakers.

5. Our 2nd best offensive player is a TE

6. The play calling shows zero trust in the QB.

This is still a 8 win team max in the regular season

I still have faith that we can have a good season and finish 9-3, maybe 8-4. Not great and not what we hoped for but if we learn from our mistakes and adjust more quickly, we can get to 9 wins. Of course, a lot of depends on QB play but I’m going to stay optimistic

Those still thinking 8 wins may be vastly over estimating this team. Our “elite” defense (coaches words) got exposed again. And the offense has struggled for the 3rd game. Have other teams figured CJH out or is it just Milton cannot deliver at the high efficiency required? Much like the drop off in BJ’s “infallible” offense after Dobbs left

No argument with any of these points……
