I wasn't sure this had been posted yet but I heard on sports talk that Jimmy Clausen was going to be in town this weekend for an unofficial visit...I know some on here don't like the clausens but personally I would love for Jimmy to get here and learn under cut.

He's here with a TON of D-1 teammates for junior day. This will be huge for us getting back in it with him. Some are saying that our stock is rising with him and he's looking to get to know Cutcliffe good this weekend.

I would love to have Jimmy be a Vol. Everyone says that he is the best of the Clausen Qbs. I know alot of people disliked Casey, but look at his record, he only lost 1 or 2 SEC road games in his career.

I agree with you guys 100%.

But my instincts tell me that we'd better brace for this thread to assume a pretty predictable path in the near future.

should I saw that path OWB or let someone else do it??

I like jimmy and I hope he comes here...

If he doesn't come here, I hope like heck he goes to somewhere outside the SEC, because I would hate to face him 4 years in a row.

Scout had an article about it. Jimmy said that Tennessee will always have a special place in thier hearts.

Because Cutt is back, he has a renewed interest. He talked about how Casey's fundamentals degressed. He is looking for someone to turn him into a pro quarterback.

And yeah, SC is still on his mind. He said he and Spurrier had a real solid connection.

my roommate saw him the other day at Firehouse subs all decked out in UT stuff.

I know it's off topic, but a Hook and ladder, fully involved.

Hopefully Jimmy finds what he is looking for. I hope we are able to provide it, but if not, good luck wherever.

Wooohooooo, I would love to have another Clausen as long as he plays similiar to Casey and not Rick.

Then maybe he will wear number seven!

i dont care what number he wears if he comes here long as hes better than either of the clausens. even tho that would not take much

If he doesn't come here, just don't go to USC...got to ND or the other USC....i could live with that....i just don't want to see that kid dressed in garnett and black taking orders from the 'ol ball coach.

Amen to that.

Now that would be scary!

I suppose hiring RC might be a good thing. But I would love for UT & UT's Football Staff to stand on its on merits. As they say there's always next year!

Is South Carolina still high on his list?

I honestly don't understand why QBs a so big on Steve. What has he produced for the pros? Some people may say Rex, but give me a break...........................

Weren't the Clausens really close with Sanders? I thought I heard/read about some bridges being burned when UT canned Randy...

he turned danny wuerfell into a heisman winner and rex grossman almost.

the clausens may think "if spurrier could turn a flop like wuerfel in to a heisman winner, think what he could do with jimmy."

that would look great on an nfl resume as a quarterback.

Spurrier also has a history of flipping on his quarterbacks if he doesn't like their play. Of course he may not have that problem anymore if he only has one. Hope for whoever goes to Spurrier as QB that he doesn't have more then one. Hope Jimmy checks that tape too.

I think the status of Jimmy Clausen coming here will depend on wheither or not Crompton can establish himself as the #1 QB. If Crompton has a good showing this spring, and if that leads to some quaility playing time this fall, I don't see Jimmy C wanting to come in as a 3 yr back-up. But who knows, we'll have to wait and see how things work out.

I saw Jimmy and his parents right before the SC game Saturday night. They were walking from the arena to gate 14 at Neyland Stadium apparently to meet with someone. They appeared to be all smiles, however, none of them were wearing Orange. As a matter of fact, mom and dad were both wearing all black which may or may not mean anything since we happened to be playing SC that night. Jimmy was in jeans and a neutral colored t-shirt. I was surprised that he wasn't taller. looked to be just over 6' but he did look like he was pretty bulky, so he may have just appeared shorter. Mom had a cell phone glued to her ear as all three were chopping at a fast clip towards the stadium. Once they arrived they kept looking around like they were suppose to meet someone, either that or they were waiting for someone to open up a gate for them(No hummer Limo in sight). No entourage I suppose since it was an un-official visit. The choice of colors by the parents appeared most significant now that I think about it. Maybe they used the opportunity to rub up with some big SC boosters in town for the game, or perhaps it was just recruiting gamemanship being played at an infantile level by Jimmy's parents, or perhaps the parents just didn't realize that Black is SC's color and they were enroute to a black-tie event...I guess it really does not matter til next year. Maybe then we won't care what the Clausens wear.

I'd love it if the young man were to see the Orange Light. But I'll be dadgum if I'm going to spend my energy trying to figure out what color slurpee the kid ordered at the SevenEleven, and what that means to his chances of being a Vol.
Jimmy, come on to Knoxville.. You won't regret it.
If not, fine. We'll catch you later...
