We were coming off a bowl win and a Top 20 finish in '87 and I was so full of anticipation that year. I had gotten married right before the start of the '88 season and was riding high.

After that 0-6 start, I was afraid I was going to have to tell my new bride that it just wasn't working out. Fortunately, I didn't make a rash decision. Still with her.

My Wedding Day was October of '88,,,(I know..."No Weddings During Football Season"!!!),,,but she was/*still is BEAUTIFUL...AND I DID wear my Tennessee Vol T-Shirt under my suit!

I remember after the Washington St loss we were 0-5 and their Coach said we would win 5 before the season was over and we did.

The thing is, most people don’t realize that schedule was kinda on the brutal side. Seems to me IIRC we lost to a Duke team that ended up winning the ACC that year.
