KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Former University of Tennessee men's basketball standout Santiago Vescovi has inked a contract with Spain-based BAXI Manresa to start his professional playing career.

BAXI Manresa plays in Liga ACB, the top flight of Spanish basketball system. It is also in the Basketball Champions League, FIBA Europe's premier club competition.

Last season, BAXI Manresa both finished top-eight in the 18-team Liga ACB and reached the quarterfinals of Copa del Rey, an annual cup competition, for the second time in three years.

any idea what kind of money a first year player would make in the Europe league? Curious
Liga ACB is the top league in Spain. It’s pays pretty well among the European leagues. Average salaries are usually between 250k to 500k and the max salaries in the league are around 4 million.

It will be interesting to see if his new coaches allow him to play the role of "catalyst" in their generally slower paced game.

He will be a positive influence, whatever opportunities he finds, on and off the court. But for sure, his defense will make him very unpopular anywhere but home.
