I thought this had been posted by someone this week, but after a quick scroll down the board, I don't see it. I bumped it for your viewing pleasure. It still makes me laugh to this day, 25 years later.

Anyway, on to the night before thread...

So who is going to the game this weekend? Tailgating plans? Those not going, how are you watching -- at home, at a friends, sports bar?

What's on the menu? I want to hear about ALL the foods you have planned for this historical weekend.

Anyone catching a high school game tonight?

What other college games are you most looking forward to watching? LSU at Vandy? Oklahoma at South Carolina? Ole Miss at Georgia? USC at Notre Dame?

There are some pretty good games tonight as well, for a Friday anyway. I plan to watch them all. :)

This is solid. Hat tip @Buddy’s Bandit

GENERAL ROBERT R. NEYLAND’S GREATEST PLOY

In 1928 a then young Neyland challenged national powerhouse Alabama (winner of the 1925 and 1926 Rose Bowl) to meet his unheralded Vols in Tuscaloosa. In the greatest (and perhaps first) opponent psych –out move ever , Neyland went to the Tide locker room minutes before the game and in full earshot of the Alabama players told coach Wallace Wade that the game would be a rout .He suggested that in order to hold down the score, that the last two quarters be shortened. Wade replied that Alabama did not plan on running up a big score , but agreed to shorten the last half if Alabama’s lead justified it
( just imagine the instant loss of mental edge by the Alabama players) .
Minutes later, Volunteer halfback Gene McEver returned the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown. The Tide trailed at halftime, Tennessee never lost the lead and won the game 15-13. [ adapted from THROUGH THE YEARS WITH THE VOLUNTEERS by Tom Siler ]

Freak getting it started early for TSIO.

Ever since I was a kid listening to Armed Forces Radio in Vilseck, West Germany in 1978 or so, I can remember my Momma saying, "Don't care what the boys do this year, just beat Alabama.".

Tonight I've already got chicken and flank steak marinating for Fajitas during the game tomorrow evening. All my friends know that this is THE game for me every year and they are all welcome to come over and watch...and a lot of them do, if only for the food, drink, and company.

Watching UL and Miami tonight...side note, hiw are tickets to that game still available and at only 16 BUCKS !?!?

Gotta go to the VFW first thing tommorrow to get ready for Fall Testicle Festival on Sunday, but then its back home to knock out a couple chores before firing up the griddle and settling in for a great contest...GO VOLS !!!

Wasn’t there, but listened on the radio as I always did when not at Neyland. I was jumping like a madman when Mr. Ward called Mike Terry’s pick.

I plan to watch the games tonight as a primer for tomorrow's action. I will be in my recliner for this week's game and will flip between games as follows, in order of importance:
11:00(CST):1. LSU-Vandy 2. Oklahoma-South Carolina 3. Georgia Tech-Duke 4. Washington-USC
2:30(CST): 1. Ole Miss-Georgia 2. A&M-Arkansas 3. Texas Tech-Arizona St.(3:00) 4. Mississippi St-Florida(3:15)
6:30(CST): TSIO-will switch over at halftime to check in on USC-ND, Mizzou/AU, Utah-BYU, Texas-UK
If I am not disgusted by the end of our game, I'll catch the end of Utah-BYU after it ends.

My best friend was a Bama fan. He and I took a couple of girls to se ET that night. I kept randomly yelling Go Vols throughout the movie.

That was the first win over Bama I remembered.

Headed to Dega shortly to camp all weekend. Having Boston Butts, taco soup, steak, and some snacks. Gonna watch Whiskey Myers in concert while watching the game. If we win, wish me luck!

First movie I saw in a theater. I was 7. My parents weren’t movie people so it was a friend’s birthday party. Memphis, though, not Knoxville, and probably not the day of the Bama game.

I grew up in Memphis and that is where I saw it. It had been out for months, but that was my first time seeing it.

Gonna grab some takeout and watch the Louisville/Miami game tonight while trying to figure out what type of voodoo I can conjure up to counteract the calls of those no good, blind zebras that will be officiating our game tomorrow night. You know it's coming! I can see all the threads on VN now with screen shots of Bama players holding our D-line and receivers while running routes. It's a sad state of affairs when we have to expect this.

Anybody know a good witch doctor or voodoo priestess we can hire? Lol
