There is no reason to call play action when there is no threat of the run. There is especially no reason to call play action when the other team calls timeout to make sure everyone knows there is no threat of the run.

Penalties galore in every game. We drop more passes than anyone in the country. Heupel beats himself, and his teams beat themselves. If he could get out of his own way, he could be very good. But this was unacceptable and inexcusable in year 5 against a beatable Bama team.

Well said.

The deficiency is in the roster. Turpentine and Telander can't be the starters on a championship level defensive team. We need athletes. High level talent to really complement the defensive line. We aren't good enough.

Right before half, Aguilar should have thrown the ball away and let us kick at a field goal. Ultimately blame the head coach but also understand what went on.

I don't understand why you partially agree with OP on blaming the coach and then like the comment calling him pathetic.

Nothing he said was wrong. Even the half time crew was making fun of his clock management and play selection on the pick 6.
There was nothing wrong with the clock management there. We have 2nd and goal from the 1 yard line with 9 seconds left. You could in theory run 2 plays in that amount of time. Bad play call imo, but that's a different issue.

Heupel is responsible for the roster. Turpentine and Telander have been here 3 years, so if you want to blame them, that’s on Heupel.

Aguilar clearly had a neck injury. Heupel thought a play action call that required a throw to the outside was a good idea when there was zero threat of a run, and his QB’s neck was hurting. If you’ve ever had any degree of neck pain, you might be able to imagine that your ability to throw a ball would be impacted.

No. He screwed up by not taking the timeout with 25 seconds and proceeded to line up and run for the first down instead. That screwed us. We lost out on at least 1 more play and limited what we could call.

Understand what went on? A damn pa from the 1 when there is 9 seconds left with no timeouts? That's coaching. I agree the throw was trash. But.... if the coach puts him on a to be good he might be... instead he calls the worst 2 calls he could have..... it all falls back on him

Stop making excuses for poor coaching and poor preperation. CJH still can't manage a game.

His offensive system masks QB’s decencies but there is only so much success you can have with castoffs from other teams.
Its more than that, its literally bad play calling, mistakes, and bad coaching in the secondary. This has been the same thing over the years now. At least try and fix them... Make coaching changes, get more portal people. DO ANYTHING other than the same thing over and over again thinking it will work.

We had Georgia and Heupel played not to lose. We arguably could have lost to Miss St. This game was winnable and statistically we beat em. Third down defense is trash. So many holes. Hate to say it. Wanna be positive but it'll be tough to run the table.
Forget it with 5 false starts, 2 OPI penalties & a bad snap every game.
