Who had this one being one of the more important late October games in determining not just the SEC title game but the CFP? (Put your hand down, no you didn’t.)
Last season, a then-ranked #7 Missouri managed to escape 30-27 in double overtime in a very messy game that ended after Vanderbilt missed a 31 yard FG wide left.
It’s been a bit of an odd series. While Missouri leads the overall series 12-4-1, since the two schools have been in the same conference it’s 10-3 (the two played in 1895, 1896, 1957, 1958). Missouri has won the last 5 matchups and 8 of the last 9 in the series.
But as for the games themselves…when it comes to either being ranked in the matchup it’s only 2-1 in favor of Missouri (Vanderbilt won in 2019). 10 of the 13 games have been decided by 10 points or less. In fact, all three of Vanderbilt’s wins were by one score or less. The last 3 games themselves between the two were decided by 3 points or less.
