Vols move up to Missouri’s previous spot thanks to Vanderbilt, Ole Miss beating OU, and UT beating Kentucky.

Right where we need to be. This is a great spot to be in for now.
I agree, you guys are in a good spot with games against ranked Oklahoma and Vandy upcoming. Still feels weird to think of Vandy as a good team, but they are. I feel good about TN’s chances in these two, you get them in Knoxville and that’s huge IMO.

I can’t say that the trip to the Swamp isn’t worrisome, but just gotta take care of business. TN is the better team, but playing in the Swamp is no joke, as you well know.

Anyway, good spot though. Win out and you’re in the Playoff. I think you guys have a very good chance of doing that.

SEC is just tough. I think it would be criminal to keep any 2 loss SEC team out of the playoff honestly. I’m confident that a 2 loss TN is definitely in though, and deservedly so, especially with how the GA game ended. That was just bad luck. I’m a lifelong GA fan, but I can admit that you guys should have won that game.

For some of you more astute college football fans, are BYU and Georgia Tech really that good? I get that ND is the darling of media.

It is very difficult to know about GT. Their last two games against Pitt and Georgia will tell the tale.

BYU has both Texas Tech and Cinny on the road and TCU. BYU is going to sink or swim with those two games.

Georgia Tech is good, though they should be 7-1 due to an egregious would-have-actually-ended-the-game officiating error against Wake Forest.

BYU’s been blowing by most of their opponents. The win over ranked Utah was a better one for them, but their next game against Texas Tech will probably be the most telling.

Realistically, and opinions on them aside, Notre Dame is where it currently is more because its 2 losses are a 1 point loss to the team currently ranked #3 (A&M) and 3 point loss to the team currently ranked #9 (MIA). They’ve been soundly beating the rest of the teams they’ve played, plus a 10 point win over a ranked then-USC team.

the only top 15 matchups left are

Tennessee-Vandy
BYU/Texas Tech and
Georgia/ Georgia Tech

We need some upsets if we win out
We win out and we are in...10-2 and ranked 14....if there are no other upsets:

1. We beat Vandy, move up to 13
2. Whoever loses UGA vs GT will drop below us as well

That puts us at 12....loser of BYU/TX TECH falls below us as well to put us at 11 at a minimum.

We control our own destiny here, my friends.

If we win out, we are in good shape.

Need Vandy to keep winning so we will have a top 10 win and Notre Dame to lay an egg. Just for a little extra cushion and to really twist the knife in Vandy's season.

Louisville is team getting screwed, they beat Miami solidly yet media is keeping Canes in top ten.

UGA would stay head of Tennessee (since you know, they beat Tennessee and both would be 10-2) unless GA Tech beat them by like 50-60 points.

Comes on Ga Tech. Pulling for you.
You more need GT to lose. A 2-loss UGA would still be ahead of a 2-loss UT (even if Vandy’s still a top 10 team when UT beat them), without something truly, humiliatingly spectacular happening…like GT would have to beat them by 60.

If Vandy is 10-1 when we play them and if we win, we won't just move one spot.

Like in that scenario, Vandy is likely a Top 8 team. We aren't getting to move just 1 or 2 spots if we beat a Top 8 team in the final week of the season.

It really also depends on the records of everyone above UT.

I don’t think so. Things could stay the way they are right now. Us beating Vandy would warrant jumping up over other 2 loss teams and some 1 loss teams from the ACC.

But like we have all said, it’s consolidation time right now.
