...and isn't going to be resolved any time soon.

“Once again, Disney is resorting to their old tactics like leaking documents to the press, negotiating in public through their paid talent and misrepresenting the facts including from the deals they’ve offered and taking credit for our product proposals,” YouTube said via Andrew Marchand of The Athletic. “Our team stands ready to make a fair agreement in line with their deals with other distributors and we encourage Disney to come to the table and do what’s best for our mutual customers.”Lea

Leaked memo from Disney.

“Team,

“We promised to keep you updated on our negotiations with Google’s YouTube TV following their decision last week to pull our channels from their service, and we are writing today with the latest. We realize this has been a challenging week, with everyone asking the same question as millions of YouTube TV subscribers during the busiest time of the year in sports: When will ESPN and ABC be back on the service? We wish we could give you that answer today, but unfortunately, we are headed into another sports-packed weekend without a deal in place.

“We know you’ve seen a swirl of information about the impasse, so we wanted to share some of the facts:

“We began these negotiations by offering YouTube TV a deal that would cost less overall than the terms of our recently expired license. That’s real savings that YouTube TV could pass along to its customers.
We’ve offered innovative, bespoke programming packages—tailored to sports fans, entertainment fans, kids and families—that would provide tremendous flexibility for YouTube TV and greater choice and value for its customers.

We’ve offered fair terms that are in-line with the more than 500 other distributors that have renewed their agreements since last summer, including the top distributors, who are far larger than YouTube TV. Despite all this, YouTube TV continues to insist on receiving preferential terms that are below market and has made few concessions.

“Rather than compete on a level playing field, Google’s YouTube TV has approached these negotiations as if it were the only player in the game. It goes without saying that the reason so many consumers value our programming above others is because we invest in the best talent, creators and content in the world, and we cannot allow anyone to undercut our ability to do so.

“We know how difficult this situation is for the YouTube TV customers we serve, and for all of you who provide the sports programming, entertainment, news and live events that our fans know and love. Thank you for the incredible work you do each and every day and for staying focused on maintaining such a high bar throughout this difficult situation.

“We will continue to work diligently to find common ground with YouTube TV and will keep you informed as we have more news to share.

Good news for GameDay fans, though.

In the meantime, Pat McAfee revealed Friday that College GameDay will be live-streamed in full on his X (formerly Twitter) account Saturday morning. The decision offers a welcomed reprieve for college football fans.

I just downgraded YTTV to the basic package. Still have Disney/Hulu/ESPN. It's back up to cable prices, and will not go back down.
Yeah just paid my credit card bill (have all the streaming stuff and a couple other things tied to a cash rewards card that I pay off every month) and I'm really wondering why I ever turned the satellite off...

I've heard some good things about DirectTV stream. Their sports package for $59 doesn't look too bad. It includes ESPN Unlimited, Fox Sports, TNT and TruTV (so you don't miss the CFB playoff games), along with a bunch of other stuff like NBA TV, NFL Network, etc.

Excellent info, Freak. Even at the normal $70/mth + $20 for the "Kids package" for keeping rugrats pacified that's a reasonable deal at $90. It's certainly good for 2 months with the discounts as a "stop gap" until they work this out.

It probably won't pass "the wife test" for me but it might work for family who were using YTTV at about that regular cost. Less fru fru channels for sure but a pretty solid option for a couple of months. Thx.

Great info and I’m going to look at it. Question though. Maybe I missed it but I didn’t see “CBS Local” on the list. Saw ABC, NBC, and Fox but not CBS. I can’t imagine they wouldn’t be in there if all the other locals are but maybe I missed something?

I think sometimes the network deals depend on your location and what kind of deals are in place. CBS shows for me, but no ABC. I don't really care about ABC, except for ESPN on ABC, which should be included in ESPN Unlimited.

ESPN content is accessible on Disney+ through a bundled subscription, which includes ESPN+ or the new ESPN Unlimited service. To watch, open the Disney+ app, find the "ESPN" icon on the homepage, and enter the ESPN hub to explore live sports, replays, and other content based on your subscription level.

I only learned of it AFTER paying for a day pass of Sling TV.

I did have to "connect" my accounts which was silly considering I have the ESPN+, Disney+, Hulu bundle.

Ah, I gotcha, you mean this plan?

Interesting. I’d have a hard time convincing my wife to go without CBS. A lot of her favorite shows are on there. However I could always use the new antenna I just got for the current mess and get CBS. And the base package is $20.00 a month cheaper than YTTV.

Correct. I was grandfathered in on pricing. It’s going up, but still cheaper than that ($24.99 IIRC).
Not a bad deal if you're getting it cheaper. That $29.99 deal is only a limited time for 12 months.

(currently $35.99/month for ad-supported plan or $44.99/month for premium plan)

I have a bunch of streaming subscriptions but Disney/Hulu just isn't something I personally watch.

Out of curiosity, I just checked how much I'm paying for YouTube TV. It's $89.99 plus I play $9.99 for 4k/unlimited home streams. so $99.98 plus tax.

Just checked my email. From Oct. 15th, the "Bundle Legacy," will increase to $24.99 starting 12 November.

I thought it was $82.99?**

Screw Disney. The only thing I watched on ESPN was in game coverage. Haven't watched gameday since Herbstriets fake tears. If there's a game I want to do, I'll go to a friend's or sports bar. I'm keeping yttv regardless. I doubt if Google caves.

Same. My only interest in ESPN is game coverage, and only because the SEC has sold their soul going with them. I'll go without games before giving the garbage at Disney a penny more of my money.

If someone choses DirecTV, they are already past this Disney issue.

I think that outage lasted about two weeks. Bought a RCA inside antenna to watch the Vols on our local ABC station.

I have used Sling's one day pass every Saturday this season for $5.99. $4.99 I like it.

We only stream Netflix, Hulu, Disney, Max; the stuff we actually watch. All the packages that include ESPN are not very different than a cable subscription. Not ever doing that again.
