It seems like many of the top head coach candidates are staying with their current teams. How many fans of these schools will feel satisfied with their new hires? I checked out the betting odds for these open positions, and here are the favorites according to BetOnline.

Auburn - Jon Sumrall
Florida - Lane Kiffin
LSU - Joe Brady
Arkansas - James Franklin
Oklahoma State - Zac Robinson
Penn State - Brian Hartline
UCLA - Jedd Fisch
Virginia Tech - James Franklin

From what I keep hearing, it sounds like Franklin is most likely to end up at VT.

I think Florida ends up with Drink or Fisch.

Next in line at Arkans after Franklin , according to the odds:

Ryan Silverfield +450 and Bobby Petrino +450
Teams need to be careful about Silverfield. Just because a coach appears to be all that at Memphis and in the AAC doesn’t mean they will succeed at a Power 4 school. After nice success at Memphis, Justin Fuentes didn’t pan out at VA Tech and hasn’t gotten another job and Mike Norvell is on life support at Florida St. Buyer beware.

Honest question-why would Fisch even consider a move from Washington to UCLA?

Huskies are at least somewhat serious about football. UCLA is simply not.

If anything that is a huge downgrade.

I mean unless he has some serious ties to the LA area and wants badly to be back there or they are going to pay him enough in the 3 years before he gets fired that he will never have to work again?

Why would James Franklin want to go way out into the boonies and meet the Blair Witch? And people forget Lane really likes Florida.

Two thoughts on Franklin.
Unless he just can’t wait to coach again, I don’t see him taking any job not equal in resources to Penn St. He’s getting paid whether he coaches somewhere or not.
He just doesn’t seem to be the type of coach for the SEC (and also ACC) based on his recent offensive philosophy or just a lack of offensive talent. Fans want an offensive team win or lose. Getting beat 14-17 is hard to watch but at least getting beat 44-47 is easier to take. Heupel’s first season is a great example. LSU, AUB, FL, PENN ST, VA TECH. all had weak offenses. Today’s game fans want offense. Actually the same in basketball. Defensive basketball I’d Boring

Not so much this year, but the last couple of seasons there has been a lot of talk over here about whether or not Ryan Silverfield was good enough to keep the Memphis job. That talk will probably start up again if Memphis gets another loss and misses the playoffs.

Joe Brady stated several times that he hated recruiting so that one feels like a reach unless he is bringing JB with him

And people forget Lane really likes Florida.

People gloss over or underestimate his family ties to UF and the state of Florida. From Monte’s roots in Tampa, to Layla’s deep ties to UF. No idea what happens but Lane is choice #1 for most Florida fans, with Lincoln Riley gaining a lot of steam mainly because he hates everything about LA, USC and their conference.

Beyond those two you get into the Drink/Fisch tier.

I’d swing for the fence, at least make them say no to you. I would call them in this order.

Saban
Elko
Kiffin
Lea
Golesh
We don't "swing for the fence". From that list, Lea and Golesh seem most likely. How crazy would it be to have Golesh and Elander replacing Heypel and Vitello in the same year?

I don't think Kiffin moves (yet), and I don't see Franklin to Arkansas.

Golesh is an X-factor here.

The rest? Meh, who cares?
