Our Vols drag into this week off of a bye week after a very disappointing home loss to Oklahoma, a game we should have won without all of the ineptitude and stupid mistakes. However, here we are sitting at 6-3 and pretty much out of the playoff picture, unless there is a WHOLE lot of chaos in front of us. Here are the keys to this week.
1. How do we respond to this disappointment of being out of the playoffs? Are we mad about how we played and come out with something to prove going forward, or is it much of the same? We have a lot to clean up. I don’t see it happening in one bye week, although we will look better because of who we play.
2. Offense: finish drives without turnovers, and cut down the penalties! Other than that we are good.
3. Defense: I don’t even know. We were a little better with Boo’s butt on the bench. Is McCoy gonna try to give it a go the last 3 weeks? That would help. Is Arion healthier? That would help. We will still probably give up some yards and points.
4. Special teams: please have someone fielding punts besides fair catch and muff Boo! Give Morris some run and put him on kickoff return too. He needs some touches.
Prediction: we will roll this game, but it’s more about getting right for the following 2 weeks with @ Florida and at home against playoff contending Vandy on the horizon.
