Just got message from Ticketmaster that today’s scrimmage was cancelled. Nothing on UTSports page. Of course there was nothing on the UT page about the event to begin with. They had an open Saturday and could Have had it last night. Great weather. Instead they changed the time three times, from 1:00 to 5:00 then to 3:00. Smokies saying due to weather they can’t hold. Something to do with soccer.

Word was the tickets sales weren’t good. Not surprised, seeing how poorly things were promoted and ran over there. WTH?

I’d show up at LNS today (I don’t know what time, possibly 2 o’clock) because I doubt they will ditch playing. Enter behind the batter’s eye and take the stairs up onto the porch.

Disappointed kiddos in my house! I was about to leave and saw the emai from Ticketmaster. Sent it out at 12:39am. 👎

Just can't risk that with the 1 1/2 hour drive. Oh well.

It’s our anniversary today and have reservations at Osteria Stella. Easy walk. Wife is seriously bummed.

Seemed like a bad idea to host it there with the One Knox game this week. Apparently that’s the primary reason they cancelled. They’re concerned about the weather impacting the field before the soccer match.

One Knoxville won their playoff game this weekend.

I suspect they did not want the ground crews tearing up the soccer turf over the infield in bad conditions knowing there's another playoff game next weekend.

That's correct. Given they're playing a literal league championship (even if it is USL-1, its still a pro championship and a franchise that deserves a good crowd and field) that's gotta take priority for Covenant.

I'm all for ripping the UTAD any chance I get, but I'm not really sure what I'd have them do. Using all of LNS simply wasn't an option.

Next year, they need to schedule these dates in advance. Horrible job by UTAD.
They were scheduled since September. I don't think you can blame baseball or UT for this being changed. The Smokies cancelled it and UT still cannot allow people in bleachers so no fix other than opening the gate and letting people on the porches.

Info on the event was non existent on the UT page, as was the cancellation. I got that from ticketmaster. Last I checked, the Smokies are owned by the UT president. They’d already prepped and painted the field. Baseball isn’t exactly damaging to a surface like soccer and football. They absolutely changed the game time three different times.

Bottom line. Poorly promoted event, low ticket sales, therefore not worth opening the stadium. Cancelled. Blame soccer. Don’t piss down my back and tell Me it’s raining.

I will agree from UT baseball point of view it is an internal event and they handed the event over to the Smokies to advertise and do all the stuff. They just wanted to finish fall ball and get a last look at a few guys to see who will not be here in a few weeks. It is a long fall and they got what they wanted and that is to play the intersquad series. I was told they were not gonna make any money off of it so why would they be concerned.
