For all of you YoutubeTV subscribers, suffering without ESPN

A credit does me no good since we cancelled our subscription. I chatted with them and got the whole month refunded. We decided to cut ties completely since 99% of what we watch on YTTV is sports. Went with the Hulu, Disney+, ESPN package for $39 for a year. I hate to lose the ability to record games but most are saved in the app for a short time.

I got an email from them on Sunday to be looking out for another email with a link “in the next few days”? They should be applying it automatically IMO.
Should definitely be applied automatically. Another sleazy tactic as 100% of people won't "claim" their credit.

Thanks @Freak for the link! It worked directly for me.

I dunno if it’s meant to be a sleazy tactic as I imagine it’s hard to account for the people who got yttv only for only sports, if anything they didn’t have to give a credit. And like the other poster here they actually refunded me completely when I canceled. I feel like YouTube has actually done a stand up job during this whole ordeal but that’s could just be my experience.

The auto credit application vs having to find the claim action is what I would consider low key sleazy. They've obviously identified those who should get this credit, why not just apply to the next bill? Only reason I can think of is some people won't take that step. It's simple to do but life can get busy.

Obviously we really mostly care about the sports but this also impacts regular ABC, FX and I think a few other channels. I appreciate the one time credit (as of now) but they've increased my pricing as of this year to $93 per month with taxes. I signed up in the earliest days so this is now double (closer to triple) of what I used to pay. I will say they've added a lot and by far the "cleanest" streaming platform from my experience (tied with or close to Netflix).

I claimed the credit and it said it would be applied to my upcoming bill but when I check the upcoming bill which is 5 days from now it's still the regular price. Maybe that will change or maybe it will be next month's bill?

for the same reason companies use coupons. it builds good relationships even though most never actually use it

to be fair I'd do the same thing if I was Google. they are the victims here it's not really cool that now they have to give money back because Disney is an @sswipe to them

While I don’t think YT is the problem, it’s definitely a sleazy tactic. They are just betting the odds that many won’t collect and they’re prob right. In the world of customer service, yes they had to give a credit. We’re now paying the same and we lost something.

Make sure to claim your $20 credit. It's not much, but it would pay for 2/3 of an ESPN Unlimited subscription.

Anyone heard any updates on the negotiations?
Thanks freak. I likely would have let this slip by without the direct link. Much appreciated.

Is enough to pay for my upgrade from + to unlimited.

Edit: I got the email earlier today and applied for the credit.

The sooner everyone realizes the media conglomerates work hand in hand and are ALWAYS going to get your money, the better!!! Next month or three, there will be another “dispute” then everyone will be upset about that one. Last year it was DirecTV.

Also, you would be wise to detach from all things Google anyway!

Got an email saying the rebate is automatic and will be applied to my next statement.

Totally support YT TV and their fight against the evil Disney and ESPN empire. More services need to take up the fight and expose the greedy b——s.

And by the way my life is just fine without Disney and ESPN

Hi TN,

We've been working in good faith to negotiate a deal with Disney that pays them fairly for their content and returns their programming to YouTube TV. We know it’s been disappointing to lose Disney content, and we want you to know we deeply appreciate your patience. In light of the disruption, we’re offering our subscribers a $20 credit.

To redeem your credit, please go to the ‘Updates’ tab in Membership Settings using your web browser, and follow the prompts. Once complete, this discount will be applied to your next bill for YouTube TV.

We hope YouTube TV continues to be your service of choice, but we understand some of our members may want to cancel their subscriptions. As always, family managers have the ability to pause or cancel anytime.

We will keep negotiating with Disney to restore their channels on YouTube TV. In the meantime, thanks for your continued membership.

Sincerely,
The YouTube TV team

It isn't automatic.

Is what it is. Gonna watch sports and pay what I have to. Have been with tons of providers through the years and this is always a thing. Will get worked out in the end. Whatever the cost is cheaper than going to the games.

Didn't want to give ESPN/Disney more $ but gotta do what I gotta do. Go Vols!
