I rarely create a thread because I'm not as knowledgeable as many on this forum. However, I have a question. Do my eyes deceive me or are our guys (Defense and Offense) just not as strong physically as our opponents? It seemed as if New Mexico States D line especially was kind of pushing our O line around.

No. Our run defense has been bad all year. The very interior is soft.

They’re getting blocked 1 v 1 and that allows the pulled lineman to run free and trap block.

It’s some of the worst DT play I’ve seen in years.
And that’s on Hype and Banks for not getting the her getting any transfer portal DTs to help with the rotation.

Ive said the same all year. We dont have the strength up front on either line. I believe this is a S&C Problem. Its obvious to me that we RARELY get a push from either line.

I noticed the secondary was laying the wood to our guy's last night. Hard hitting game on both sides

NMSU ran for about 55 yards last night. Hobbs had 9 tackles and isn't getting pushed around by anybody.

And Dom Bailey played Tackle for the 1st half of the year and made himself a BUNCH of money. Hes gonna be a middle rounder even at barely 300lbs. We arent loaded and dominant at DTackle like last year though...which is why people notice. OK is dominant at that position and killed our run game because of it. 2ypc...

Doesn't Garner, our D-line coach have some culpability here too?

They actually finished with 27 rushing yards. Passing yards were a different story. While our run defense has in no way been strong, we are actually up to 9th in the SEC statistically and within 25 yards overall of being 7th.

Thats what I've been barking about all season. No excuse whatsoever for us to be so porous on the D-Line. From game one I said we looked small and soft at that position. Elite programs dont have these "gap" years at these positions. This staff needs to wake the hell up and start aggressively pulling from the portal to plug these holes! We didnt sign a single D-tackle from the portal this year.

Yes giving up nearly 30 rushing yards and 9 points to any team is a fireable offense honestly...and what elite programs don't have gaps outside of UGA and Ohio St? and even they struggle on offense and defense at times.

They just have the experience and 5 star depth (and in OSU's favor the schedule) to make it happen

If you were a competent and capable defensive stalwart, all things being equal, would you want to play for Banks and Martinez or chose another stop with proven ability, rather than this clownshow giving up 300 yards and 30 points to struggling SEC teams.

Secondary has been an issue since Heupel got here and the precision, size, skillset, speed and agility seem quite lost of this defensive coaching staff, time to turn it over to somebody else that understands SEC offenses and how to best defend against them.

NMST averaged 0.9 yards a carry, if that helps.

They are dead last in the NCAA in rushing - at 65 ypg, 2.2 ypc. We should pump the brakes a bit crowing about us stopping that juggernaut.
1. UT played solid rushing defense.
2. NMST is not a great rushing team.
3. The rushing total includes about 40 negative yards from sacks, so the results of called rushing plays were a little better than the stat sheet says.
4. Read #1 again, because it’s the main point.

Revise #2 again to read that “NMST is the worst rushing team in all of college football” - the word “great” cannot be used in any context..
