I noticed he didn't play, then looked up the participation chat and he wasn't listed. I assume he was hurt.

That was a perfect game to get experience and lots of PT. Beasley got a lot of run and looked lost.

Shouldn't be surprised Beasley looked lost they are not being coached back there about like most of the defense back seven. It is just damn pitiful.

It's easy to say they aren't being coached. It quite possible that they are being coached but some of the players aren't good enough to perform what's asked of them.

Was Jakobe Thomas good enough? Because in 3 fewer games with Miami he has 2x the tackles, forced 2 fumbles compared to 0 last year and 4 ints to 0 last year.
Our safety coach sucks. Period. It’s why we can’t get big names back there. Their coaches and handlers know they will be put in better positions to make plays on another team, and they are 100% correct.

We will never know because he didn't play for Tennessee this season so to say he is better because he is at Miami isn't rational thinking. And the reason we can't get big names back there is because they aren't spending the necessary money to bring in the top talent on the secondary.

It is weird how our safeties are rarely in position to make plays. Beginning to think it’s a system thing. Like maybe they are coached to just prevent the home run?

Hubbs addressed this in this morning‘s Volquest podcast.

It is rational because he is put in better positions and able to attack as he likes to play. He is not dropped 30 yards deep on 3rd and 7. Fans have no idea how often this is pointed out in recruiting and want a sole blame on nil, which is incorrect. I personally know the families of 2 safeties, one a ‘26 and one a ‘27, who had no interest in UT and nothing to do with NIL. Their dads have SB rings, one playing safety, and undersrand what film shows. Their goal is to play safety at the next level. Banks can’t get one there. The whole league knows it.
It’s well known as you won’t see many 4 and 5* safeties look our way in soph/jr years, before nil is a factor.
Vandy, Mizzou, Auburn and 100 other teams spend the same or less than we do, yet find a way to not suck.

instinct is coached out of them by asking them to run to a spot, read, react and go make a tackle.
You can’t break on a pass to the sticks on 3rd an 8 when you are told to drop 25 yards deep and keep 10 yards of grass between.

Serious question - not trying to throw shade on Banks or anyone, but legit question.
Do you think Banks is overwhelmed?
Would he be better if he concentrated solely on DC duties and not DC plus a position?

A few programs have the DC only doing DC and working with all the position groups in a limited capacity, most notably UGA and tOSU.
Banks has never been solely DC, except for his time at Central Michigan when they were fielding decent squads.
When he was at Penn State and they were putting out Top 5 defenses each year, he was safeties coach and "Co-DC" (not sure how much actual DC duties he had, so it may have just been title)
Would he better off if he took on DC plus a more minor position like ILB (where he excelled at Maryland)?
Could / would Martizez or Harbin take both LBs / DBs and Safeties?

This. Beasly isn’t exactly a heat seeking missile.
It's crazy that we heard so many good things about him preseason. We heard they were high on both Beasley and Farooq and that they were in a real battle for the 2nd Safety spot. But Beasley isn't remotely close to an SEC Safety right now. Sidney Walton is decidedly better.
