Kim seems very confident in the fact that the team and the “system” will start clicking, which any coach worth their salt does need to portray confidence about their team. I can see us starting to gel at some point later on and things start clicking, at least I hope. I do think there are a few personnel flaws to fit this system perfectly, but time will tell. I do have to caution that while the freshmen have huge upside and room to grow that some of them might hit that inevitable freshmen wall. IF they do, I am also hoping that posters who are relying on them to be superwomen will show them a little grace at that time.

I admit I've non done a deep dive on Kim's career but has she ever coached a team that didn't "get it?

Short answer, no, CKC has never had a team not get it (at least if you agree that last year's Lady Vols did). Marshall won the Sunbelt regular season in 23-24.

Here is her record at Glenville State: (She did say that her last team at Glenville State was as new as this team and struggled just as much early. They also went to the Division II Final Four):

2022-23 Season - MEC Regular & Tournament Championship - NCAA Tournament Appearance - Final Four
Head Coach: Kim Stephens
Record: 33-3 Overall (20-2 MEC)

2021-22 Season - MEC Regular Season Championship - NCAA Tournament Appearance - National Champions
Head Coach: Kim Stephens
Record: 35-1 Overall (22-0 MEC)

2020-21 Season - NCAA Tournament Appearance
Head Coach: Kim Stephens
Record: 12-4 Overall (10-2 MEC)

2019-20 Season - MEC Regular Season & Tournament Championship - NCAA Tournament Appearance
Head Coach: Kim Stephens
Record: 26-5 Overall (19-3 MEC) Season cut short due to COVID-19

2018-19 Season - MEC Regular Season & Tournament Championship - NCAA Tournament Appearance
Head Coach: Kim Stephens
Record: 30-3 Overall (21-1 MEC)

2017-18 Season - MEC Regular Season & Tournament Championship - NCAA Tournament Appearance
Head Coach: Kim Stephens
Record: 31-2 Overall (22-0 MEC)

2016-17 Season - MEC Regular Season Championship - NCAA Tournament Appearance
Head Coach: Kim Stephens
Record: 24-6 Overall (18-4 MEC)

Adamant declarations made before even a third of a season’s games have been played have a strong tendency to be wrong, very wrong. —Confucius or maybe Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Most adamant proclamations made ere a third part of the season be play’d do oft prove false -- aye, most grievously false." - W. Shakespeare

La gran mayoría de las aseveraciones echadas de bocas no muy sabias antes de la tercera parte de las partidas…pertenecen al muladar cósmico. —Luis de Góngora y Argote

DeepL translation: The vast majority of statements uttered by unwise mouths before the third part of the games... belong to the cosmic dunghill. —Luis de Góngora y Argote (1561-1627)

“Thus the general who proclaims his army invincible after the first moon’s battles, before even a third of the campaign has unfolded, invites the laughter of heaven and the blades of his enemies. Victory is declared only when the banners are furled and the fields lie silent; all else is the chatter of fools echoing in the wind.” Sun Tzu
