The combined 17-5 record of the No. 18 Vols and the No. 12 Commodores is the best this in-state rivalry has produced since 1941, when they were a combined 15-3.

Just for comparison, UF and FSU are 8-14.

I wonder when the last time Vandy was ranked ahead of us going into the game? I’m planning on us being ranked ahead of them coming out of the game…

AI says:
The last time Vanderbilt was ranked higher than Tennessee going into their annual football game was in 1955. That season, Vanderbilt was ranked 9th in the AP Poll, while Tennessee was unranke

1982 possibly. They beat us and had a really good QB named Whit Taylor. I think they finished 8-3 while we might have finished 7-3-1. Pretty sure they were ranked higher AFTER the game.

That was the year our D finished last in the SEC despite having Reggie White, Mike Cofer and Bill Bates.
