Poll: Vols Football Team Soft?

Is the main reason Tennessee got mostly manhandled in the trenches and lack of fundamental tackling technique in the secondary due to just being soft?

Yes. I lost count how many Vols limped off the field Saturday (and the last few seasons). I don’t recall one Vandy player getting injured

I disagree. I dont think our Oline is nearly as nasty and physical as they should be. I actually think they regressed as the season went on this year.

Our OL got pushed around by Vandy. We are soft on both lines of scrimmage. We need to upgrade the strength and conditioning coach BADLY!!! There should never and I mean NEVER be a time where Vanderbilt pushes us around on the lines of scrimmage.

I think your right. CJH has gone after guys who don't cross that line. Where as Georgia, Bama, Ole Miss do go after those guys. Saban said one time you got to have those Alpha males to step up with attitude and be leaders. I don't think the Vols go after those guys.

We're not out there getting paid to perform on the field. Pointing out the issues with this team just makes us observant, not hypocrites.

I watched the pregame locker room speech from the 2001 Florida game recently. Seeing those guy's attitudes in the locker room made me wonder if that mindset exists anymore. You could tell those players were going to give their all and nothing was going to stand in their way.

Yep, was at the game & hard to watch the D close and I havent had the gumption to replay and rewatch it closely. Before the game I thought Carter or Perlotte would spy the QB and stop them in their tracks. I haven't seen the PFF yet rating players. I cannot remember when I've been so wrong on a game. I kept saying Florida road would be twice as hard as Vandy but @ home but we were almost just going through the motions, 2nd half especially.

Yes, toughen them up Coaches. Get some strong physical and mental men ready to go play who aren't gonna want to sit out over a hangnail. Enough with lazy and soft players with an excuse. Get some beef in those trenches!!
