The playoff committee has said for over a year that they would not punish the loser of the SECCG.

So if we were 10-2 and lost the SECCG, yes, we would be in. This isn’t a conspiracy

Yes. It’s been made clear that teams who are in before the championship games will not be punished for playing the extra game. They won’t do that to an SEC team, Bama or otherwise.

On its face this seems like a silly question, but on a deeper look. You are exactly right. What point at all was there in playing this game, not only did they not penalize Alabama, but didn’t reward Georgia either. In fact neither team moved at all. While I could see a small argument if it was somewhat of a close game, but that wasn’t the case. Looking at it from that perspective it’s not worth playing the game, and risk getting players hurt neither a chance of losing a spot or moving up for winning. Obviously I can’t stand Georgia or Alabama, but it’s hard to see a valid reason for playing when it obviously could hurt your team without any benefit even if you win.
