George Quarles HC of Webb Knoxville

George Quarles just got hired at Webb Knoxville. Talk about a big hire. Webb went 1-10 last season and then goes and makes this hire. Probably flips their record in year 1 or 2.
GQ is an incredible high school coach. Unfortunately didn't translate to the college game at ETSU, but this could be huge for Webb.

His Maryville teams were examples of talent, discipline, & dedication. Webb School made a great hire. How old is GQ?

I have personal experience with coach George Quarles. I played at Maryville under him back in the early 2000s. He is a heck of a football coach, and one of the nicest guys you will meet off the field. He has a knack at motivating high schoolers as well, which is pretty difficult nowadays.

My high school football career was not really that special, but I tried hard and he treated me and other "second stringers / bench warmers" the same as starters as long as we showed up and put in the effort. One year I had a season ending injury, and he found ways for me to help out with the team. He really didn't have to do that as I was pretty much ready to quit, but the fact that he cared enough to keep me around to help with drills, scout team formations, and film study guide creation always stuck with me.

Years later, I was wrapping up college and working a part time job in Alcoa when he walked into the store. He immediately shook my hand and asked me how my studies were going and seemed genuinely pleased to know I was graduating UT with honors and about to start my big boy job. He is a class act and had a positive impact on my life. I hope he succeeds at Webb.

And Derek Hunt just resigned as head coach at Maryville HS today. Some big jobs in high school coaching and some big names making changes .....

Is he? I haven’t see that anywhere. Is that just assumed since Hunt stepped down from maryville?
I was told that in mid November, far before GQ to Webb was public. I called my buddy crazy. Said he heard it from Nix.

Webb is probably paying him more to be an OC and he doesn’t have to teach any classes in private school. Can’t blame him.
