Today was Wreaths Across America Day at our national cemeteries. The new East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, opened in 2011, now has more 8,200 heroes buried there. We went today and laid a wreath on my dad's grave, and after families had placed their loved one's wreaths thousands of volunteers jumped in to place a wreath at every grave. Walking to his grave and listening as the bag pipe artist play Amazing Grace was quite emotional. It reminded me of our deep Volunteer heritage of protecting our Country and those who have done so much. The young woman standing beside said she has 6 relatives buried there.
Special thanks to all of you who have served.
And I should also have added a thank you to their spouces and families who supported them. They are too often forgotten. So I insert now.
