Coach Heupel talks during Music City Bowl prep

Feel bad for all CFB coaches today, as they fight all year to get an invitation to a bowl game and from the time that the bowls are announced till kickoff, they have no idea what players will enter the NFL draft or enter the portal- which means prepping for the game is damn difficult. The starting line-ups of virtually every team changes prior to kickoff but then again, that presents opportunities for some of the JV players.

I don't feel bad for the power 4 coaches, most of them make 8-11 million a year plus incentives

And other teams are trying to get YOUR coaches and/or assistants, or some may already be leaving (looking at you Kiffin).

I'm not disagreeing with your take but I've often wondered how many actual hours per year they log. I think maybe the dollars per hour would be less attractive to some people.

Well, lets do the math: $8,000,000 means if you worked every hour of every day of a year you'd get $913.24 per hour; @$11,000,000 that comes out to $1255.71.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, average hourly wage in Tennessee is $31.08. So that would be 29 to 40 times the hourly wage.

Now, the work-life balance is horrible but to each his own.

I know a whole lot of folks that make less than 20 dollars a hour

I realize that is tremendous money for the ordinary 9 to 5 worker. My point (badly expressed) was how many people genuinely wants to work 18-20 hrs per day and with little to no real vacation or family time.

Ya know, I've called a Pastor on "off hours" to see if he wanted to hit a local diner (you may not know this but preachers like to eat 😉) and he's been out counseling or at the church dealing with a facilities issue or on his way to the hospital or......

Just a tip of the cap. Then again, your retirement benefit is second to none. 😇

And if they don't win their bowl game then the fans want the coaches fired.
Definitely an exaggeration. Everyone with a brain knows the bowls don’t mean much. Extra practice is what it amounts to for young players. Depending on opt outs who knows what you’re getting come time for the bowl game.

What makes fans want coaches fired is when Vandy comes into your house and beats you silly and makes you look like you’ve never played football before.

…after telling us they were going to do it. One thing I mentioned prior to Vandy that caught me some flak with some people..I couldn’t watch another year of Banks and if getting whipped by Vandy meant he would be gone, I’ll take the L over a W and Banks still here next year.

Yes, so 12 coaches don't sweat and let's see, 1,485 coaches do sweat, right????
More like 122, but that's not counting G5. If you're a G5 team, the best you can hope for is to make the CFP and get sent home in time for Christmas.

16 team playoff; straight seeding; and if a G5 team makes it they are likely toast. There is a food chain in CFB, and G5 teams are the scavengers.

It is what it is. Go start a G5 NIT for football.

At 67, can I just work 12 hours a day?
