Texas hires Muschamp

Oh boy. There were quite a few people
On here that were most certain that Muschamp was happy with what he was doing at UGA so he could spend more Time with family and he didn’t want to coach anymore.
There were some, but when you basically get told to go stand in the corner by your boss and former teammate, at that point you’re looking for a better gig, but you pass it off as “I want to spend more time with family” schtick. Back at his old job.

Well people on here don't know shat. Including me. But I can see how CJH wouldn't mesh with a raging bleep hole

If there were not so many of them, it would make sense to keep a list of people who are absolutely full of it. They prove themselves frequently.

Does anyone actually know who was doing the favor in that relationship? Kirby or Will.. I’m not sure either one is a more proven defensive coach than the other. Kirby has only had more talented teams than almost anyone else.

At any rate, inflation is a bitch and no one under 65 wants to shrink their spending habits when they know they’re in high demand. Muschamp was always going to try to get back into a 7 figure salary.

I was one of those people who thought Muschamp was done coaching, and I was wrong.

Muschamp comes by the Coach Boom nickname honestly, but he and Kirby Smart are friends all the way to playing at UGA together. Absent some proof to the contrary, this isn’t about personalities. Muschamp came from South Carolina as an analyst, got promoted to co-DC, took an off-field role, and now leaves to be DC elsewhere. If he and Smart didn’t get along, he had lots of other suitors before Texas. He was paid $600k this year and could have gotten 2-3x that much easily.

The rumor is that Texa$ made Muschamp the highest paid coordinator in CFB. It’s a rumor and I take it with lots of grains of salt. But it fits.

Good question and agree. Both are really good DCs and it doesn’t surprise me Muschamp got picked up. He will do well at Texas again. Muschamp was a D analyst, then ST coordinator the co-defensive coordinator before going back to an analyst role of some kind under Kirby.

That was his actual statement when he asked Kirby to move to an analyst role.

I was actually inclined to believe the "spend time with his family" thing because it isn't like Muschamp couldn't have landed a good DC job at some point over the last few years if he wanted to. He was actually the co-DC for the 2 years prior to him being an analyst and wasn't calling plays, so it's been something like 5 years since he's had a big gig.

Maybe he just got bored and wanted to get back into a big time role again. Maybe he needs the money.
